If I run a 10 speed campagnolo cassette (cheap wheel, campag freehub) on a SRAM apex system - sram chain, chainset, derailluer etc. will I die or just suffer noisy chain and lazy shifting?

I have 25c GP4000s on Campagnolo Eurus (20mm external width, 17mm internal), they just clear the inside of my brakes, at the 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock points, when looking at the brake front on. Will switching to 22mm wide (17.8mm internal) Ryde Pulse Sprint rims mean they have more or less clearance?
@edscoble, the wide rim evangelist.

Presuming the inflated cross section of the tyre remains constant, wider rims should improve the situation. Shouldn't they? #selfdoubt

Okay, if you wanted to take a semi-confident cyclist out for a 30 mile Saturday spin from Clapham, with as few cars as possible and not Richmond Park, where would you go? Roads not trails. Train out of Clapham junction is a possibility...

Train to Effingham junction and then head South.

If you wanted a hilly route then train to Boxhill & Westhumble and do 50km of this: http://www.raasaywarden.webspace.virginmedia.com/hilly50g.htm
It is hilly though!

I love the surrey hills but she just got her new bike, alfine 8spd genesis day one, not sure how low geared it is so don't want to kill her on first ride!

Take her round Biggin Hill airport. A bit hilly but essentially fixed friendly.
Go down via Elmer's End and West Wickham.

He'll need to go down via Elmer's End and West Wickham as well. Filth.

Ride to Windsor, along the Thames path - OK requires a bit gravel grinding, but that's half the fun. 90% traffic free mostly on paths, some pubs along the way, option to go in to Windsor Great Park for lunch.
The road route isn't bad, either.

You got those modern 11 speed Shimano drivetrain, front dérailleur need more tension than you think, it should feel quite tight when you flick it.
FYI the cable doesn't stretch, it's the housing that compressed, new housing need bedding in so it'll shift properly.
We just tell customer it stretch because it's a darn sight easier to explain than telling them about how the housing compress under load.
Follow other advice on tightening the cable tension and you'll be fine.
Genesis Zero right?

Different pads can help, Swissstop have a new wide rims pads that allow more clearance (but less material).
What brakes is it? Modern Shimano brakes (says 5800) can give more clearance as it's better designed for wider rims.

I'm after an iOS app that does fixed route GPS (as in you pre-determine the route) and it doesn't change it because it thinks it knows better.
I can't find anything... am I being stupid?
Needs to have audio turn by turn...

Buy a tandem and have Mrs Soul map reading behind you.

Yep, the Zero 3. Some time spent with the barrel adjuster this morning seems to have solved the issue :)

Whilst an excellent idea, it's actually for riding my motorbike w/ Bluetooth speakers.

In that case, Mrs Soul on the pillion and an intercom :-)

TRP R960, which I'm loathed to replace because they're super light and cost someone lots of money. The pads are fairly worn now and it's still super tight. I mean, I've ridden them like this for over a year, just trying to avoid buying fancy wheels that won't fit.

Have you used this app? Only recent review is one star saying the navigation is shite....
-
• #70173
Not as much fun two up. Plus, I can get a cheaper (and much lighter!) sat nav unit :)

That make sense, doesn't look like there's much room sadly, put some new pads on (Swissstop Blue) to see how it fit.
Some kinda avid I think. Whatever's stock. Will have a fiddle tonight. Ta
