And now if i wanted to go 50mm wide 29" rims, are there any affordable options?
47mm wide Kris Holm Freeride rims, 36H only but well under half the price of Surly Rabbit Holes

Would there be any issues running a sram 11speed crankset in an otherwise all 10 speed setup? Are the ring spacings different and/or the chainrings different thickness?

Lennard Zinn is your man for that kind of query, his Velonews blog is often about mixing and matching.

Ta. I believe I found the answer. Should work just fine.

Q
looking for a fast road bike for a 5ft 2/3 female (1.6m).
650 vs 700 seems to come down to headtube size (?).
would you say 650 is the best bet? seems all the complete bikes come with shitty groupsets. -

My girlfriend rides a extra small (XS) Giant DEFY and is within the height proportions above. It's 43cm and has 700c wheels. Suffers from massive toe overlap. As I understand it, 650 may help avoid this.

Look at the road bikes at Decathlon some of them come with 650 wheels in the smaller sizes.

650C is very limiting when it comes to wheel and tyre choices, for that reason alone it's best avoided.

C, not B, massive difference James.

The difference between the C and B is the P, I wouldn't say it's massive.

I ran an 11 speed chain on a bike with a 7 speed cassette, it's fine, it's usually the other way that cause problem.

It can be a problem with full width 3/32" sprockets and chainrings. 8-speed chain is safe on anything up to 8-speed, 11-speed chain will work on anything from 9-speed up. As you have discovered, a lot of pre-9-speed kit was made under-sized and will happily live with 11/128" chain, but you can't guarantee that all of it was.

Any kind souls that are also members of British Cycling and haven't used their Chain Reaction 10% off voucher that expires today able to let me have theirs? Planning to order something where 10% off would really count and I've used mine (only works once). You get your code when you log onto the BC membership area. Maximum kudos would come your way.
Cheers

He said fast road bike. If anything, 650B is an even worse choice than 650C for that, since you can at least get Michelin, Schwalbe and Conti's proper road race tyres in 23-571 and Vittoria Open Corsa CX-III in 21-571

Shimano road jockey wheels in a SRAM mtb rear mech - a certain death? both 10 speed and both 11 teeth. Seem to run okay in the stand, perhaps shifting slightly less smoothly.

No worries.
If there is air circulating from outside you're just trying to dehumidify the world, which might take a while.
If the room is well sealed - plastic windows without vents, a door with no gaps around it - then a dehumidifier could be beneficial, but if the windows are breezy then you're better opening the door and getting a through draught.
