how tight or tensioned (dont really know if either of those is the correct term, apologies) should my spokes be? I got a wheel built up about 2 or 3 months ago and rode it just outside my house for a few minutes and it doesnt feel the same as my older wheel. I felt all the spokes and some of them are looser than others, but the wheel seems true and it was built in a bike shop. It's laced up radially if that makes a difference.
Also, I need superhero costume ideas, but I need ones that dont need loads of stuff bought for them. So spiderman is out, but say Rorshach from watchmen wouldnt be so bad as I'd only have to but a fedora looking hat. But I havent even seen watchmen so I dont think I really have enough reason to go as him and I dont want to go to the party and have conversations with watchmen fans.

It's a script I'm proofing.
It's the start of a new scene and we are in John's house.
JOHN is closing the door and stops, still.
KABOOM! The loudest yet............. < that's an explosion btw :)
I think the phase "stops still" has no comma. The writer has included a comma.

It makes sense without the comma in context. Stock-still might add enlightenment.

boredom - tension and truing is a balancing act. The ideal is equal tension on all the spokes and perfectly true.
However, if they've done it properly there shouldn't be a huge disparity between how tense the spokes are. If you are now riding a radial wheel and before you were riding a 3x, then it might feel different. Is it exactly the same rim, hub and tyre? Because these will all make more difference.
Oh and go as the Green Hornet's sidekick. Kato , I think his name is.

hugo I did notice that some were less tense than others. Its a different rim, same tyre and similar hub.
and im not going as a sidekick. and i havent seen green hornet/ or read the comics.

Kato is a great idea. Whatever you do don't just put on a black suit and claim to be a man in black/reservoir dog/James Bond. I've seen so many people do this at parties and it just seems lazy. Another idea is the incredible hulk, all you need are some old jeans and a pot of green body paint from your local party/dancewear/theatrical shop.
Question:
I've been offered a Road bike that originally had a Shimano triple chainset but I need another as it comes without a chainset. Will the replacement have to be Shimano to work well or could I also use one of the Sugino or other brands I see going cheap? As I dont have much money.Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, it does say any question!

The problem is using is when talking about a sequence of events. Is is about a single instant of time during which John can't be both closing the door and stopped still (unless the door is powered somehow and his presence is causing it to close).
John begins to close the door then/but stops, and is still.
One moment John is closing the door, the next he stops and is still.
Abbreviating ", and is still." to ", still." is probably clear enough to be understood.

The spoke tension is not likely to be the same as another wheel unless it's same pattern, and components. Even then there tends to be a bit of personal preference on what tension to build too.
In a perfect world all spokes on a radial wheel would be under the same tension but in reality there is likely to be differences although they should not be that great if all the components were new.

Which is correct:
*- John is closing the door and stops, still.
- John is closing the door and stops still. *
?
The comma is not needed but there also seems to be another problem although I am not sure what the technical error is.
I would write it as
John closes the door and stops still.
If the writer is trying to convey some extra weight to the verb `still' he needs to do something else.
John closes the door, stops and stands deadly still. John closes the door, stops, standing deadly still.
or something.
- John is closing the door and stops still. *

Will you be 'fixing' it? If so, you'll most definitely need a new BB with a short spindle to achieve a good chainline.
If you're keeping it as a road bike...The short answer is, no it doesn't *have *to be Shimano. You could probabaly buy a new chainset for about £10-15 off the forum.

http://www.lfgss.com/thread57989.htmlThanks, I'll be keeping it geared. Hopefully I'll pick the bike up next week and once I know exactly what it comes with I'll start looking for something.

I think the comma is there for dramatic emphasis, the pause that the comma induces is meant to represent a moment of tension, a pause in breathing.

Many thanks

Show us what one looks like - presuming you mean furniture, rather than a mathematical load of crap. I’m intrigued, never heard of it.
