I need to get a certified copy of my passport made in London, where will do it cheap/free?
FD don't accept ones from the post office only "is certified, signed and dated by a Solicitor, Lawyer, Attorney, Licenced Conveyancer, Barrister, Commissioner For Oaths, Chartered Legal Executive, Notary, Chartered Accountant, Member of Parliament, Member of the Judiciary, approved person in a financial institution or a Medical Doctor"
You just need to find someone who is, however technically, one of those things, they only have to write on the back of it that it's you and who they are.
My mum's in all day and is a lawyer but I imagine Beckenham is less than convenient..

Needs these too though..
- includes their printed name so we can verify this with the relevant directories eg The Law Society
has a company stamp
includes written confirmation that it is a true copy of the original.
is that still the same diff?

I've never heard of this company stamps business, I think that would apply to something you can't readily look up to check (i.e. lawyers and doctors are on professional registers). It's literally ballpoint pen "I hereby do certify that this looks just like rogan honest guv wot he looked like on the 4th of June 2014 and I is a real lawyer signed A. Laywer, Registration # 12344558"
Shame you don't need it in a month or so or I'd do it. Hmm. Any mates with a barrister/solicitor in the family?

Any large post office will do it, I got 17 documents certified yesterday for a total cost of £42... £7.15 for three documents IIRC...

Oh fair enough.
It's the first time I've rented so never had to end a tenancy before.
Basically what date do I hand notice in and stop paying the rent if I have to give two months notice.
Assume i had handed in on the 28th of May, I guess I'd pay for July's rent and then be out by the 28th/29th of July?
No the clause makes no sense.

It's a standard Assured Short-hold Tenancy break clause. Badly worded and with a misspelling, determine in stead of terminate (that I only noticed when I pasted it in my original post.)
Basically after the first four months I can give two months notice, whether it means six or seven months is moot as we've been there longer than both.
Or that's my understanding at least.

Anyone?
At a guess two more rental term payment days, rent payment in advance would mean no payment on the final day.
But comfirm with landlord/letting agent

Sounds right.
The idea is it gives you an option to break at 6, but to do so you'd have to give notice at 4th, or at any point thereafter with the same notice i.e. 7th for 9th, 11th for 13th etc.

If that's all the break clause says then you can serve a notice at any time after four months from the commencement date of the tenancy, specifying any date for the termination of the tenancy, provided that the date of termination is at least two months after the date of service - i.e. two months after the date when the landlord or his/her/its agent receives the notice. Bear in mind, however, that if you exercise the break clause during a rental period (i.e. if rent is payable on the 29th of each month, on any day other than the 28th) then you'll be liable for the whole month's rent and you won't get a refund for any part of the month after the lease is terminated.
And the use of the word determine isn't a typo or a mistake. In law, the word determine is synonymous with terminate. It's perfectly proper to say that a tenancy has been determined, meaning that it's come to an end.

Cheers so always email and post dated 28th?
Just to clarify innit

The lease should contain a provision specifying how notices under the lease should be served. If in doubt, send to everyone by every possible means well in advance and ask them to acknowledge receipt. Section 48 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 requires the landlord to notify the tenant of the address for service of notices, and the tenancy agreement will almost certainly specify this.

What if I was to say I want to end but not until x which more than two months?
-
• #60720
That's fine, 2 months is the minimum notice, there is no maximum

Basically, no. Unless the job afterwards is heavily reliant on the quality/content of your degree.
It's in Financial Management, I don't know if that counts
you need to look at why they are ranked where they are, and how that can help you - is it the value added (turning poor students into good ones), the employment prospects, industry links, student satisfaction?
our bit of my uni has shit student satisfaction, but everyone gets a job, because we try to sort that out for people.
it got 4/5 for satisfaction, things that let it down were research (it obviously doesn't do any), low entry requirements, and post-study employability was low too. This bit doesn't worry me as it's quite a specific course and I already did okay in The Real World. I thought it was quite an odd way to rank institutions, but what do I know?
Of course it does. It matters for the 4 hours after you graduate in the pub while you laugh at everyone you outranked. After those 4 hours it will be forgotten for the next 10 years until someone asks about uni rank on a cycling website...
Most of the time I would win by default, as few of my friends went. Nice.

Dear helpful forum folk,
Just purchased a new*5700 105Groupset from Merlin for £291.00 including
cashback. Bargain of the century but that's not why I'm here.* I wanted a
double obviously.
The levers are marked as* ST-5700S 7p-SET SS1 on the barcode however before
I left for work this morning, I noticed the hand ticked box on the top is
ticked as triple (I believe the barcode should be ST-5703 if it's a
triple) .
Question is how do I tell if they're double or triple?!? May seem like a
dumb question I know however it isn't immediately obvious to me when trying
to see how many clicks the shifter moves). Thanks in advance

On the lever itself, the model no. will end in 03 if it's a triple I think.
