  • Would consider that - a tow could be easily arranged at the weekend.

I might bung an ad up here in case anyone wants a car that can carry loads of bikes (it has a tailgate-mounted carrier and roof bars).

  • I have front wheel built with a track hub like the one above.
I'd quite like to use it on my road bike, and build up some kind of matching sram 10 spd compatible rear, does anyone make hubs like that?

  • My girlfriend's 7 year old nephew is crazy about bmx / mtb and mostly Danny MacAskill - can anyone suggest stuff I can take him to in the London area over the summer that he would like?

  • ^High-flange road hubs? The Halo ones might come close...

  • I've scoured the tyre threads and not come up with anything....

Which big volume (35 ideally) puncture resistant 700C slicks? For my cross so skids not an issue. The conti cyclocross folding that came with the bike have the puncture resistance of an eyelid.

These look good, are they made by Halo, or just a rebranded system x?

peckham bmx track? Also Brixton beach if you think he won't be scared of Object.

    Southbank any weekend.

Rom skatepark in Romford (easily accessible via Liverpool St or District line to Elm Park) hold their annual Rom Jam every August and is a good day. Chilled, BBQ, and awesome riding.

Clissold Park bowls in Stoke Newington on a nice day will have plenty of people shredding and it's a nice park with other facilities too. Down the road is Volt BMX - London's best and possibly only BMX bike shop.

Stockwell skatepark on a weekend (next to Brixton Cycles).

  • Haggerston race track.

  • Good call NH. He'll love that.

  • Great suggestions - I've already taken him to SB (spent most of my teenage life there) and to the track in Brockwell park. He's too short to get onto the Lee Valley track atm :)

Are there any demo's or comps on over the summer?

I have the 32c Panaracer Ribmo on my Crosscheck for Nursery Runs and commuting duties. Only about 2 months in but I have not had a single issue, YMMV.

My 19 month old is not afraid of Object. He's quite fond of him really.

Bike polo, come to the London Open at least towards the end of August.

  • Where's good to eat a cheap lunch somewhere between Southwark and Borough? Not the market.

Hope it's not too late, but there are some great places in that area! Hing Loong on borough high-street is nice and used to have a special lunch deal. There's a couple of cheap sandwich shops on the same street that are good value and fast, or if you carry on south of borough past the british school of osteophathy there's a fantastic little italian deli. alloy square taper campagnolo record cranks chainring bolts do not fit...
carbon square taper campagnolo record cranks.

alloy cranks designed for 10mm chainring bolt outers, carbon cranks for 8mm?
    is this the ideal solution?
    is this the practical solution?

  • Ludd,
I've scrapped two cars. Both barely ran. I used the online scrap agencies. It was really easy and honest and no hassle. Remember there is paperwork involved in scrapping a car, IMO you might get £20 extra at your local scrapie, but the hassle of towing and doing your own paperwork negates that immediately.

But do take anything saleable eg cycle rack, off first and sell separately.

There's always a fair few on but they're not usually in London. They're at festivals, or small towns where there's fuck all for people to do.

One big one is NASS, but that's in Bristol I think. There's a few different "team extreme" style demo outfits who do tours around the country but London isn't really a stop.

Vans are doing a jam at The Level in Brighton next weekend.

A lot of the skateparks like holding summer jams.

  • Does anyone have any recommendations for getting shot of an old car?

£130 is basically a weigh-in price for the scrap metal. Shop around for a better price, I was quoted about the same for my old berlingo as scrap metal, but a dismantler gave me twice that cash-in-hand, and picked it up. Paperwork is nothing, just fill in the relevant sections of the V5 and send off the bit that says you've sold it to DVLA.

  • The walk between satire and sincerity is so confusing.

Seems our local dismantlers are a bit picky - they've offered me £100. I might try a few more places.

  • There have been Shimano XT large flange hubs, but the rear would have a disc mount and might not be respaceable to 130OLD

  • I'm happy with the Halo one really, but i'd like to get a (cheaper) unbranded version if its a generic thing like with track hubs.
