  • Sorry if a repost question-

I have two sets of high flange campagnolo hubs.
Neither of them have any stamps or markings on the
    Shells to indicate thread sizing.

Can anyone tell me if i can determine just by looking
At the direction or size of the thread ?

    Cheers,
    James

  • The Chris King is still good, but has a weakness in the centring of the upper bearing due to CK's refusal to pay to license the Dia Compe patented split compression ring. There are after market hacks to add the split compression ring to CK headsets. This only applies to threadless headsets.

they now have a split compression ring. you can retrofit to old headsets too.

  • So here's another question: I'm trying to choose a gear ratio for a new build, and I need to know what my current gear ratio is. But I've got hub gears, so it appears to have a single cog on the back but somehow magically produces 3 different gears. Which is the "true" gear, top, middle or bottom?
    .

Assuming a Sturmey Archer AW, 2nd is the true ratio, 1st is 33% lower, 3rd is 33% higher
    Calculate your ratios here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/internal.html

  • Original tape: 16x9 Digi Beta.

Imported via a Sony J-30 using firewire straight into a Widescreen Premiere Pro CS3 project. F5 to capture. Capture. It's saved to my scratch disk as a 1.3GB 720 x 576 AVI which when I play back in say.. WMP plays just fine, true 16x9

I drag it onto the timeline and the image is squashed to fit in a 4x3 box within the 16x9 work area.

So I select the clip on the timeline, go to effect controls, drop-down menu 'motion'. Scale width to 133. Looks fine in the image preview. Render.

The final export is has to be is DV PAL .mov that plays native 16x9 in QT without having to fuck around and 'tell' the software that the PAR is 16x9.

    File, Export, Movie, Settings:

    General: Quicktime
    Video: DV-PAL
    Frame Size: 720x574-16:9
    PAR: D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)

    OK, Save

Now. When I play this fucker in QT it boxes up into a 4x3 window and squashes everything horizontally. Not cool.

I've tried various other settings e.g:

    General: Quicktime
    Video: DV-PAL
    Frame Size: 1024x576-16:9
    PAR: Square Pixels (1.0)

Which works fine when exporting as H264 but not as DV PAL MOV. When doing that it exports a file that plays in the correct window size when opening up QT, with correct audio. But video like the attached...

This is a pain in the ass.

Other formats and codecs seem fine, as I said, AVI, H264 etc, but DV PAL .MOVs just don't want to take it.

What the fuck am I doing wrong?
