11.5g extra per meter?
That's just not an option. :-)
I'll just use the white ones and become a laughing stock. I'm not buying another gear set. Cheers guys!

That aerofoil vs. wire thing posted in the other thread is interesting, I wonder what the implication would be if one kept the cable directly in front of the headtube?

As always a pleasure.
Eh? Is that the man himself?

Looks like it.

Something something stalled air paging tester

Depends a bit on how far in front of the head tube; taping a 5mm diameter cable housing to a round tube with the axes parallel might actually be better than the round tube on its own. Dangling it diagonally across the tube axis several inches in front is going to be horrible, you get all the drag of the cable and make the flow over the tube worse too.

what's the deal these days with tethering?
I can see various contracts officially allow or disallow it but can you get away with a little bit regardless? I've never had more than 500mb data/mo (luddite!) and in the past when i've urgently needed to get on a website for a few minutes I've tethered without issue despite not having paid for the privilege. If I upgrade to one of these more modern contracts will I still be able to do so as long as I don't take the piss?

company to company basis
im not allowed to on three, but I can do it for a while, maybe 20-30 minutes, before I get a 'your not allowed to tether!!!!!" web page no matter what site I try and visit
reboot the phone you get internet back on your phone, but the tethering doesnt work for an hour or so, then repeat
my gf's EE just doesnt let her at all

hmmm
can't work out whether it's worth paying for an officially allowed version or not. realistically the new fancier phone should reduce need for a tethered tablet/laptop anyway...
-
• #56864
any opinions on getting "unlimited" net vs. 2 or 3 gigs "limited"?

I haven't used my phone as a modem since getting a handset with a proper web browser and email client.

If you look at the details of some "unlimited" plans, you'd be hard pressed to use more than 2GB/month without falling foul of the "fair use" policy anyway.

"tester approved solution". probably good enough for me.. bought a nexus 4 from elsewhere on the forum, I think I should just select whoever gives me a couple of gig for the least cash monies (with requisite call and text ofc)

May be look at ovido for a free sim? You get a free amount of call and texts and internet for a one off fee.

Thought 3 allowed you free tethering.

I used my Note on 3 to tether with whilst at my parents- day after day of solid use, not a peep from 3 about it.
I don't believe it was mentioned in the contract as a discrete service.
This Christmas just past I used my iPad pretty much exclusively however- which has a 3 SIM in it.

I have an overwhelming desire to get away from life for a few weeks. Criteria, somewhere warm and with peace and quiet. Any good experiences / ideas?

In Europe? Budget?

Why not?
Because he asked?
Also, for those asking, I think the £15/m contract with 3 allows tethering, whereas the rolling ones do not

VAGX, is it pronounced vadge ex or vaggix or what?
Vadge ex sounds like some kind of topical cream.
The Powercodz won't work with mini I-link. Like the Nokon liner it'll be to big. For me your only options are to you use standard I-link for the gears to maintain the black liner. The difference in weight between standard and mini is about 11.5 g per m.
Or one of the suggestions for making it coloured ..
