Other half fell asleep having started running a bath. We were alerted by the fire alarm downstairs going off as the flooding had got into the alarm. Visible water has been mopped up, is there anything else we ought to do? A couple of light fittings and the alarm are dripping water.

In my experience considerable amounts of sighing and the occasional audible 'tut' should do the trick. Other than that, I don't think there's much else you can do. Other than getting ready to repaint the ceiling. Again.

Keep the place ventilated, which is a pain this time of the year.

My head is a bit ichy when sleeping on the pillow. I clean my bed once a week and don't use it on weekends so basically I clean if every 5 days. Is this not enough or can anyone recommend me a shampoo that might help?

What I used to think was dryness turned out to be something that any suphur based zit cream can address; excess oil, or rather wax. Using it on problem areas like my forehead actually fixed the problem on the rest of my head.

Perhaps change washing powder.

Change the pillow case fabric? Change fabric softener or washing powder, use Head & Shoulders shampoo?

You can get gatorskin tubulars. For some reason people on the forum mostly hate conti tyres, but I have always had excellent experiences with gators.
