  • do newish 130mm rear XT hubs (non disc) exist, or all they all 135mm?

  • XT has always been 135mm. If you can find a FH-M752 (non-disc) you might be able to respace it to 130mm. Probably easier to buy 105 or Ultegra.

  • Do the suspect pedals have the identifying 'L' & 'R'?

If it isn't stamped into the top of the axle thread bit then all new cranks I've seen always have a sticker denoting whi.ch they are

    like so.

thanks. the wheels were on a giant tcr 2 which i believe is also 135mm

  • The braze ons for my seat post bolt are knackered, the threads have already been re-tapped once. is there any reason why I shouldn't hacksaw and file them off and use a seat post collar instead? The frame is reynolds 531 and the paint is ruined already.

Or the left one will have a ridged area and the right one will be smooth.

Get a longer bolt with a nut on the end and just go straight through, ignoring in-built thread?

Unless they're proper fucked. Check you can get the right diameter collar.

    Didn't know that.

  • Science, bitch.

hey snotter will you still look at my rear wheel for beer/cash

  • Yup, remind me what was up with it again?

  • its massively out of true and maybe the bearings are shot

  • OK, drop it round with beery beer and leave it with me, next Wednesday is good for me, I can bring it to polo on the Thursday in good nick as long as it's not beyond repair.

TCR is a road frame, it should be 130mm.

  • cheers snotter, will swing by next weds

Thanks. That's actually my current solution but in order to get it tight enough to grip the post I keep stripping the threads on the bolt. Which is why i was thinking of stripping everything off and starting fresh.

  • Where may I purchase one of these: http://www.lfgss.com/thread92726.html

(I thought for some reason that I'd be posting somewhere other than classifieds when I responded to that but apparently not, so I am cross-posting somewhere with higher levels of Tester)

  • LBS might have some knocking about.

  • Leave the house, you say? okguy.jpg

  • Good point.

SJS cycles sell them in packs of 10. I think I might have 8 left somewhere. Let me know if you can't get to a bike shop.

  • Fill your boots.

  • Hurrah! Thanks, both!

  • Fill your boots.

Don't use plastic for brake mounting. You probably won't actually die, because creep in that location will just make your brakes loose rather than causing them to fall off completely, but you will suffer from brake chatter which is annoying and slightly dangerous.

  • Fair enough. I just went for a quick google and they popped up first, the sjs answer had already been mentioned so I went no further.
