tester - why's your avatar twitching?
Answered that one a while ago:
It's supposed to :-)
I saw an image once where I thought "is that animated, or is my browser taking 2 bites at rendering a still image?", so now I want everybody to suffer from the same doubts.

I didn't have any doubts - I've been happily watching it for hours, safe in the knowledge I'm easily amused.

Why are some DA 77XX BBs 118mm and some 109mm?
109.5mm BB-7700 is for road double, 118.5mm BB-7703 is for triples, 109.5mm BB-7710 is NJS certified track version.

Moving house. Moving into a house I'm not sure how long I will be there for.
Interwebz.
What's the best option?
Dongle?House is t connected, not sure how long I will be there so getting connected and contracted up might not be ideal, as I'd have to go thru the wank of moving it over again.

What's your data plan on your phone look like? (assuming you have one)

Last year (summer) I bought some 23c Gators to replace my 25c ones. Now this little patch of rain recently has seen visits from the Puncture Fairy 8 times mainly on the front and all new holes. My 25s lasted for two years.
I know my milage has upped but this is fucked up, is there a shit version I bought by accident?

I had a reverse issue with Gatorskins - had 23c for ages, no punctures and got some 25c and had loads

Other half has a 80s Raleigh Clubman. It's nice but has steel rims and the brakes are shit, it's a death trap in the wet. I know we can replace the pads with kool stop salmons, but that will only do so much as the centre pull brakes are so ineffective and they're a pig to adjust, although I can just about do it.
Can I replace these with normal road brakes? It's got 27" wheels, would brakes designed for 700c work with 27" wheels?

You'll probably need long drop, and with nuts not Allen key fitting, the latter being harder to find than the former.
Measure up and see if these will fit. Rather annoyingly, the nut fitting ones seem to come with one-piece pads whereas the same brake with Allen-key fitting has cartridge holders, but you can fix that easily enough to give you a wider choice of pad compounds

Ace, thanks. I thought long drop was in order but hadn't thought about the fitting at all. Nuts.
Presumably the pads are going to be standard and no good on steel rims, so I'll look into kool stop options.

Chromed steel is always going to give shit braking in the wet, you might do better to look into replacing the rims with alloy. A basic front wheel (where most of the braking force will be) might well set you back about the same as a new set of calipers and pads.

+1 for those Tektro long drop calipers. I have bought four pairs for various low end conversions for friends and found them to be excellent. Shame you can't buy them singularly.
Shimano quietly dropped the aluminium rotor pretty quickly, releasing the 7850 series of hubs and wheels with a standard sized Ti freehub rotor.
