Shimano seem to have made it their mission to make ugly drive side cranks for a few years now, and they are only getting worse
If I could have found an FC-2200 in 165mm, I'd have taken them over any current Shimano crankset on aesthetic grounds. The 2300 is hideous, and yet they seem to have topped it with the 2400. I'd also have taken the 5600 over the 5700, but they all seemed to be gone. Doubtless 5800 will get the 4-arm treatment seen on 6800 and 9000, making the 5700 look like an elegant classic in comparison.

Yeah, doubtless.

and that's why i prefer campagnolo

I prefer my crank arms to stay attached to the spider though so I'll take the ugly.
Actually I run 7800 which are sexy and S-Works which don't look too bad.

Edscoble, will you and the Sora groupset get a room already?

I'll take effortless fingertip shifting and ugly cranks over pretty cranks and clicky thumb shifters any day of the week....

Morning all - does anyone know if the NCP on Shoe Lane (Little New Street) has secure bike parking?
That's a private car park. I can't find any contact details for it on-line, but this suggests that there probably aren't any cycle parking spaces. I may be out of date here, but I think cycle parking has only been installed in some (underused) public car parks in the City.

In a crash* at the velodrome would you generally be better off if you unclipped from your pedals or stayed attached to them?
*asuming the crash isn't caused by accidentally pulling out of the pedal.

And also...
Presuming or assuming? ^

You want to come out of both or neither; the worst case is being clipped in on one side only, so the bike has leverage on your ankle.

I'd go for 'assume' in that case.

I need an emergency replacement for my dynamo front light while its being repaired, what shops in London will have a stock of cheap ones? (There seem to be various lights from Brompton, B&M and AXA online for around £20)

Thanks, I've never crashed on track but on the road in most cases I ended up coming out of both but the couple of times I didn't were more painful, and even more awkward to get up from!
I'd go for 'assume' in that case.
Cheers

Some Evans do tend to have some dynamo light usually for a Brompton, Bikefix might have some as they're specialised in touring/nodder bicycles.

Bikefix - good call. i've only been in there once but it did seem like the kind of shop which might have them. cheers.

Now ordered. Will report back in CP.
Or the Sora crankset that can be had for less than £50, unless you can geniunely feel the difference between the 105 and the Sora.
