  • Back in June I had one bike sitting forlornly in my garage. As of this evening there are now 5, 4 of which I own.

Are the bikes breeding? Is there a recommended upper limit to the number of bikes you can own before non-cycling friends think you 'have a problem'?

  • Not really, any problems with number of bikes won't come into effect until you no longer have any non-cycling friends.

  • Can't remember - passed that point years ago.

  • How do you go about working out what size TT bike you need, without recourse to a bike fitting.

i.e. how do I work out, right now, what might fit me on eBay?

    I normally ride a 58cm Cannondale SystemSix

  • If you usually ride a 58cm TT, are happy with the stem length on your current bike and the whole thing fits you,

    I'd say get another 58cm

  • So one does not get a slightly smaller TT bike than conventional road bike?

  • I thought you size down for TT bikes.

  • Fit's not so crucial,as

    1. You're probably not going to be doing massively long rides on it
    2. by the time you've ficked about with aerobars, saddles and rails, stems etc, you can lose 2 cm either way here and there without much issue.

That said, if you are XL size, then XS isn't going to do it for you, but the difference between say 56 and 58 isn't going to kill you. Not a lot of handling involved.

  • Oh, sorry Neil. I misread your post and took "TT" as the abbreviation for Top Tube.

I know that to size yourself for an older TT bike (low pro) you just make sure the 'horn' part of your pursuit bar is in the same place as the drop part of the handlebar on your conventional road bike.

  • No worries Mr Crowe.

Essentially I need to go 40km at around Mach 7.1, or as close to that as I can come.

I had thought that with ones elbows just behind the bars, curled over like a hyper-aggressive snail, that a shorter top tube might be in order.

  • It sounds like a shorter top tube would be ideal.

    Better ask mdcc_tester

  • Paging mdcc_tester, mdcc_tester to the thread...

    You don't.

Two things; first, your position could be pretty much anywhere, depending on where the optimal balance between aero and power lies for you personally, something which could also change quite a lot over time. Second, you won't have a clue about where the frame needs to sit until you know which tri bars you like, since the stack height of the handlebar set up could vary by at least a couple of inches between models. If it was easy, people wouldn't be spending £400/hr in the wind tunnel tweaking every little detail.

How many 25 mile time trials have you ridden in the past few years? When do you need to do this performance?

  • I've taken out Evans cycle insurance. If I get run over or whatever, how would I claim the value of my bike against it? Do I need to get it valued or can I do that after?

  • you can do it after, or before. I know of some one who took the bike to Mosquito to get the right value. This was before of the signing fo the insurance. Also I know of another persons who got the bike value by the compoments after the bike was rob, the insurence pay eveything as new

  • I really like watching poker on TV, despite not having a clue how to play it at all. Why is this?

  • Because they dont show porn on late night channel 5 anymore so its the only thing to watch?

  • Bingo

  • Like watching that too...

  • how do i leave t mobile? the c**ts wont let me go

  • Read your contract. They will have breached something as they are shite. Then just tell them that you are accepting their breach and regarding the contract as at an end. They'll just pass the "debt" endlessly to an infinite amount of rubbish debt collecting idiots and nothing will ever come of it.

  • Does anyone know where I can get 27 x 1" (25-630) tyres for my old bike. Nowhere in uk sells them. Plenty of 27 x 1/14 available (even from Halfords) but no 27x1". Seen one or two places on internet in US selling 'Panaracer Pasela' 27x1" tyres but they don't export. I don't really want to change the rims if I can avoid it. There must be loads of us with similar bikes to me. What do you do?

  • Why is it when you spend 20 min trying to write a question on stackoverflow showing that you have done tried x,y,z, two minuets after pressing submit do you solve your own problem?

Try the old bicycle show room (google it) and sjs cycles.

  • I've tried sjs and no they don't stock 27x1". Anyone got any used tyres they2d like to sell?
