  • You can take the piss out of scoble, but you can't take the scoble out of piss...

  • Spot on. I'll be asking for the same guidance on how to avoid getting beaten up when I'm in Naples. And if we get to the next round, when we're getting put to the sword in Madrid.

As I said, I don't mind people making jokes about German--it richly deserves them.

I wish "Hallo, Schnuckiputz - willst du bumsen?" was accurate grammar. That is a delightful sounding piece of language.

It is accurate grammar, although the people who'd react to that in the affirmative probably wouldn't know accurate grammar if it stood up in their soup.

  • How are you going to avoid being beaten up when you go to Wests?

    Chat up sifter.

  • I avoid excessive padding on the bar so I won't have to grasp it when it get a little tough

Easier to just not start bar fights or to HTFU.

  • Any suggestions for an alternative to igoogle as it's about to be retired. I've tried netvibes and ighome but neither of them appear to have a decent world time or exchange rate widget (I want to be able to set multiple locations/ currency pairs and have them all showing at once) which I use a fair bit on igoogle.

  • If you are getting Nokon for the front, you can probably get away with buying the extension set, which has 40cm of cable?.

Won't work. You need the spiral coil 'pipes' for Nokon that go under bar tape to add to the extension kit. You can get them separately special order from Germany but they're £8 ish a pair and long lead time .. I bought some about a while back to use with all the odd lengths of left over Nokon rather the buying another complete kit.

Choices I know of Ed are :

    I- links
    Nokon
    Powercodz Swift
    Aican Bungarus

I've only used the first two on that list and favour I-links. IMHO it's easiest to fit, gives a tighter bend and the anodising is better then Nokon.

  • Also worth considering noodles for the tight corners on a front centrepull/cantilever/Delta, the two ends don't have to move relative to one another so flexible cable outer is redundant.

  • So I've got some Shimano A530 pedals, and on the left one, the retention has started to go weird. Even when it's set really loose, it sticks quite a bit, allowing no twist movement without quite a lot of force. Sometimes if I clip out and back in again, this helps, but like 50% of the time it sticks. Cleaning and lubing the springs etc seems to help for a bit, but only like one or two rides and the problem comes back. I don't think it's worn cleats, as they are only a bit worn, and I don't get the same problem with my other pedals (M520). Should I just replace the pedals, or is there anything else I can do? Bit disappointed as they're only a year old and Shimano stuff is usually ultra durable.

    These ones:

  • I need to pop off a SRAM GXP bottom bracket tonight (Om-nom-nomniums). Is the tool different to the Campag one? I suspect so, because the cycling industry is allergic to common standards. If so, where in London sells a decent one?

  • Same as the Shimano tool but you can't use the Lifu one, you have to use the spanner type

  • I don't have a Shimano one, but that's good to know - probably easier to find. Any recommendations?

In a move that amazed and astounded the entire industry, Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo managed to agree on a standard for external BBs. So one tool should fit all (and does in my experience - the Park one).

Ooh, lovely. I have a Park one - the one with the little plastic wheely thing at the bottom which I still don't know the purpose of.

  • Cutting very small Pizza

  • Well, that's what *I *use it for, obviously. But I suspect Park had other ideas.

  • It is for installing the arm cap on shimano cranks, they don't require a great deal of force.

  • Park don't make it any more, I think because it was hurting sales of their pizza cutter.

  • ...shimano...

So entirely useless for me, then? Apart from the pizza thing.

  • ^^Buy decent components and it will then be useful to you.

  • It would make a nice edge pattern for home made ravioli.

They are decent. But they're so ugly.

  • is netflix UK still shit?

  • If one were to get a wet spray job from Mario Vaz, could one get a clear powdercoat over the top to protect it? Or would the heat kill it?

I asked Steve about this one and he said a clear coat might work over some 2 pack paints but it'd be a very expensive mistake if it didn't.
