There's currently an ACS one mounted on the larger of the two threads - the Dicta one is too small to fit on the smaller of the two threads.
-
• #50603
I don't understand. Are you trying to fit two freewheels to the same side of the hub?
-
• #50604
Sorry, no, I want to replace the ACS freewheel (for 3/16" chains) with a freewheel for 3/32" chains (hence the Dicta in the above link).
-
• #50605
Weird, it doesn't say anything special when looking at the hub, the freewheel appears to be a normal freewheel as well.
"Perfect for use with modern threaded singlespeed hubs for road, off-road or BMX. Not suitable for splined cassette hubs."
So it should fit.

Ah, I've just looked on the invoice of all places, where it says "14t - small thread". Is there another thread size I don't know about?

Best budget BB for my DA 7600 track cranks and track chainline. (42mm I think)

There is a minimum size for a freewheel on a normal 1.37"x24tpi thread.
For 14T, you're on the "mini-freewheel" thread. I have a DMR Revolver hub which is standard one side and mini on the other.

Yes.
You can't get smaller than 16t in the standard size freewheel, anything smaller is for bmx's.
Ncjlee, it is indeed bollocks, standard freewheels fit fine on the cog threads.

Cheers, thought so. Am I thinking of singlespeed and geared freewheels not being compatible?
-
• #50611
Do you mean geared freewheels as in 3 and 5 gear blocks? If so no, those are the same threads again... I'm pretty sure.
Although maybe you've been told not to put them on fixed threads because they are thinner and sometimes the block can strip the threads.

Correct, Sheldon;
Conventional Freewheel-type Hubs
The cheapest way to convert a multi-speed bicycle into a singlespeed is to use the original rear hub, assuming that it is made for a conventional threaded freewheel. A single BMX freewheel will thread right on. Unfortunately, the chainline is likely to only work with your granny gear unless you re-space the rear axle and re-dish the wheel. -

Yes, that's what it was. Thanks.

Not worth it, Halford have some cheap Carrera with Shimano Tourney for less than £300.
Saying that, it's still too expensive compare to the B'twin Triban 3.
edit - like this model, but there's a different one with green stripe in the shop for £270.

The rolls and turbo saddles look quite similar, would they also feel similar or is one slightly wider?
Little bump

My fault then.
Although the only place CRC have stated smaller thread is the bloody invoice.
cheers all

I think CRC have ballsed it up. I'd send it back.

It happens a lot, how do you think I found out? :)
Doesn't help that 90% of places selling them don't mention anything about it.
Edit landslides suggestion is worth pursueing ... Although I'd be slightly surprised if it works.

In Greece we had rather large red hornets (called Babura I think- spelling bound to be wrong), they had such a fearsome rep that people tended to leave them to it.
Could be the Oriental Hornet?

In my limited experience, CRC are pretty good about returns. I sent back a headset (labelled as 1 1/8", but was actually 1"), and a hat (unworn, but I'd had it a while and ummed and ahhhed about whether it suited me or not). No quibbles, refunds processed toot sweet.
Also bear in mind the cooling off period for distance selling. -

Definitely your fault, any fule kno that a 14T freewheel will have the mini-bmx thread, because you simply can't fit a ratchet in the thin gap between a 14T sprocket's base circle and a 1.370" thread.

Could someone tell me why this freewheel doesn't fit this hub?
The link is to one that is described as coming in 16/17/18t.
^ this might be bollocks.
