  • Can confirm, all seems to work well. Car phone Warehouse were perfectly happy to sell me a phone with a sim despite me checking if my GiffGaff sim would work with the phone okay.

Anyone want an o2 sim with £10 credit for some beers?

  • Be carful about giving that sim away. It may be registered to your name.

  • A few questions here.
1st off I need a silver 27.2mm seatpost that's at least 300mm long and will look ok with a fair bit of it showing, preferably not too costly.

2nd does anyone know the trade price of DA 7710 hubs?
Planning a wheel build but not at work until Tuesday and would really like to know if they within budget.

3rd Anyone know if a badly cracked steel frame can be repaired without a tube replacement?

  • Check kinoko website, they have cheap da hubs at the moment

You can add a sleeve, but it won't be pretty and the frame might not flex far enough to slide the sleeve over one of the tube-ends.

  • cheers but after PDF files to put on a kindle.

  • What would you call the finish on this frame? I wouldn't really call it gloss or Matt?

    Matt Goss

  • No way

  • its Luke

    Kalloy SP248

  • Cheers for the replies tester and noiser, I reckon I'll go with the kalloy because I prefer the clamp design.

  • Is there any way of dating a Phillips frame from it's number?

    • hopefully something more accurate than "I think I bought it after the Suez crisis" ...

I can't help you but that's an amusing response!

  • Q
is there a thread for awesome cycling related videos?

Whatever you want to post, it's probably a repost.

Especially if it's got a BMX in it.

  • Bolt-up hubs are fine in theory. Trials riders use Bolts and female-threaded axles. I have Echo TR trials hubs on my polo bike.

You'll need to add some kind of serrated washer if you want to use them with track ends because if you over-tighten the bolt the thread can change such that the friction when you try to undo the bolt is enough to rotate the axle; in this case you'd have to always undo the sticky bolt first, and tighten the other one first when installing.

Can't comment on the Novatec ones specifically.

  • How is council tax calculated....?

My annual council tax charge is £1060.39, which when divided by 12 works out at £88.37 a month.
Yet my council tax bill states a payment schedule of £112 a month.

I queried this with my borough and they said it is calculated as a daily charge and so the annual sum cannot be simply divided by 12.

OK, let's have a look at the cost per day.

    So £1060.39 / 365.242 = £2.90 a day.
    £2.90 * 31 = £89.90 for a 31day month.

I have no idea where this extra £22 a month is coming from, and LB Lewisham couldn't explain or justify it either.

Can anyone correct my maths or shed any light on it...?

  • You only tend to pay it for 10 of the 12 months. From the Merton site:

    Instalments
Your council tax bill is issued in April each year. It is split into ten monthly payments (instalments), payable from April to January, unless you have chosen to pay in twelve instalments, or to pay in full in April. Your payment must reach us on or before the first day of each month.
If you get a bill part way through the year, you will be required to pay your bill in fewer instalments. The number of instalments will depend on when your bill is sent to you.

  • That still puts you at £6 a month over.

  • 12 installments at Lewisham

  • You get an extra bin run this month. They won't tell you when tho.

  • It's a pricey bin run

  • Oh - your paying for the whole street. Number 32 said it was OK.

  • That slag...?
Don't listen to a word she says.

  • should i ride to basildon tomorrow for taco bell?

if yes would anyone like to come along?
