Just so we're not wasting time over nickels and dimes, how much has this broken front wheel cost you?
£35 for the front wheel, the seller has offered 20 and I've asked for 25 which I'd be happy with.
So yeah it is bordering more on the nickels and dimes end of things :p

Fairly modern Nigel Dean built Geoffrey Butler touring frame. 27.2 seatpost is very tough to squeeze in. Really surprised to find that the old seatpost is what looks like a smidgen over 26mm. Reckon I should continue to force in the 27.2, believing it's the right size and that the frame was slightly pinched around the old seatpost, or just give up and use the shitty old 26mm post?
I can the the 27.2 post about 3 inches in before it gets really tough.

You need to have properly cleaned it, measured it, greased it and be sure that the post is the right size. If you fit a post slightly too big or too small you risk damage to the frame or the threads on the seat post bolt.
But a first word of caution would be that if you can barely get it into the frame you need to ask yourself if your going to get it out again...

Everything was cleaned and greased. I'm sticking with the horrid old post. It was just a surprise to find out that 27.2 was too large.
-

26.4 is a pretty common post size. But if it was made for 26.4 there should be no chance of squeezing a 27.2 in.
Try a 27.0 - they are even more common.

It is more annoying than anything else because I just bought 27.2 from Condor, naively assuming that it would be the right size.
Can't take it back because I scratched it up trying to squeeze it in. Bugger and shit. -

Thanks for the speedy replies. I needed that reassurance I was wrong otherwise I would've continued kidding myself into thinking that that 27.2 post was gonna fit.
-
• #48919
You could maybe ream it out to 27.2
If you frequent a LBS with custom, this is the kind of thing they would do for free.

You sure it's not a 27.2 and that the clamp area has been squashed down to a 27.0?
I had a frame where the seatpost that came with it was a 26.6mm, it should have been a 27mm

Yeah I bent out the ears as much as I dared and still the post wouldn't budge without loads of force. DFP I could head over to Vaidas Cycles but I'm off touring on Wednesday and I don't have time. Oh well.

What's a good route from Columbia Road to Portabello Road? I don't really fancy fucking around with Pentonville Road every day, but it doesn't seem like there are many better routes that let me stretch my legs.
Any advice?
