If it was all perfectly new would they be compatible?
-
• #48728
Yep, as long as they're both 10sp groupsets.

Left my £2.50 water bottle in cage hundreds of times. Always empty water though as more concerned someone has put something in it!
I once got back to my bike and the bottle appeared to have been filled with beer. Mightve been piss though, hard to tell.

Q
does anyone change their gearing (FG/SS riders) for rides of significantly different distance? -
• #48733
Yes.
Gearing in the 60s for hilly/touring
Gearing in the 70s for flat/fast rides
Gearing in the 80s or 90s for TT/track -
• #48734
I'm forever changing my gearing. Normally go down 1/2 teeth on the back for 60+ miles, unless it's a group ride.

What is the ranking of "category" as seen in the OP of for sale?
Cat 2 and 4 seem common.... I don't recall seeing Cat 1. What is above/below? -
• #48736
It's the forum reputation system based on positive / negative comments. Cat 4 ... Cat 1, then probably Elite, and maybe something else. World Champion is the highest.

Bit of a shitly put question.
Specifically, I'm interested to know the incease/ decrease (%) in cadence people aim for between 50k and 200k.Yes.

They don't change cadence, they just go slower on the long rides.

Climping, between Bognor and Littlehampton. Surprisingly remote.

I think this may be Elliot Bank. Forest Hill area (after Canonbie on the route). Winds snakelike up landscaped gardens with smallish modernist blocks of flats, then a dirt road atop of it with gardens.
Or Pepys Road, perhaps? In Hatcham aka Telegraph Hill, New Cross Gate. Not on the route this year. Residential road, with a park on the right halfway up, late victorian bay-fronted buildings, some quite substantial. This road is totally straight. Before Canonbie on the route 2012.
Any help?

"Buxton still mineral water 750ml sports cap, £2 for 6 at Asda"
Not good enough Tester I'm afraid. Nerged for not including exact weight, dimensions and a chart graphically explaining the implications of using said bottle in terms of aerodynamics, not to mention UCI regulations.
For shame, for shame...

Don't think you're being facetious... but thrown by the slower comment.
To clarify, do geared riders not drop cadence on shorter rides? Say riding 200km rides at 90 but 50km rides at 80.They don't change cadence, they just go slower on the long rides.
-
• #48746
Nah, cadence stays where you're comfortable. You just ride a bit slower so that you can last the distance.
My comfortable cadence is around 100rpm. Others might be faster, some may be slower
-
• #48747
Can't argue with that really... 100rpm is the preferred cadence of champions.

^^^ & ^
I swear I've seen you bang on about riding a big gear fixed? At that cadence you must be riding short distance or mega fit!
Likely to need a new chain if you've been riding for a while.
