If my brake ever fails in a TT I'm gonna be jamming my foot on the rear tyre, fuck trying to slow 100'' with my legs

I'd get the rim re-laced to a proper hub when funds allow Tommmmmmmmmmm.

TT regulations require a lock ring, or other device serving the same function, or a rear brake.
What other device would serve the same function?
Next question:
Is this

Having a nightmare trying to find replacement cone for my dura ace hub. Any ideas where to look? I've tried Petra and Sjs without any luck. It's for the rear 7600 hub. Part #: Y 278 98210
Cheers

7 speed would possibly be a screw-on freewheel Tommmmmmmmmmmmm?

Disc mount sprocket?

It looks like the other option, which I presume would be for a screw-on, doesn't have a lockring thread. Not a major issue I guess, as, like the carbon wheels, I probably won't use it for anything else.

Disc mount sprocket?
Ah right yeah. I thought he meant there may be a solution which I could use with the suicide hub.

Disc mount sprocket?
This, or any proper spline drive sprocket. Basically anything which doesn't use back torque to remove the sprocket.
-
• #46913
No, for two reasons.
1: I wouldn't use a Fixxer for skidding, pretty sure the splines would be fucked pretty quickly
2: Very few Hed hubs have the necessary spline-drive freehub, just a few H3s from the early days AFAIK.I won't really be skidding on it at all, track use only, I was being facetious calling it that, but I can see it's quite misleading.
This looks better in that case, but will this work with Discs as well as H3s, do you know?

It's works for screw-on hubs, but is no better than a suicide hub; the lock ring is purely decorative, as back torque simply removes the adaptor from the hub instead. The axle might not fit a disc wheel hub, but it's pretty easy to rig up a track axle for pretty much anything, especially if that anything has cartridge bearings.

How much would you charge? ;)
-
• #46916
Typically about £40 for an axle and bearing retainers from your local machinist.

So the one I linked to, the fixed thread and lockring thread are one unit that just screws onto the freewheel thread? That sounds a bit crap for £80.

And would it be possible to find someone kindly to do that for me, and use their local machinist instead...?

Bb lockring?
It will fit and I would imagine you could argue you had a lockring... Even if it's effectiveness was questionable...
Having said that I know a bunch of people who've ridden the road without lockrings and lived to tell the tale!

You could if you enjoy starting arguments you're going to lose.

It would be a bit crap for half that. The only thing is solves is chainline on wheels which can't be re-dished.
And would it be possible to find someone kindly to do that for me, and use their local machinist instead...?
If the wheel has 12mm internal diameter cartridge bearings both sides, you can use Surly Fixxer parts, no custom fabrication needed.

From the pictures here and from what looks like the same one here that seems to be the case.
Presumably I wouldn't be able to use the actual threads on the Fixxer, and would still need something to screw onto the freewheel thread on the hub?

Track ends with gear hangers, what's the deal?
Is the only reason to have this combination to be able to switch between fixed/ss and geared?
-
• #46923
Also allows adjustment of the gap between tyre and seat tube, to maximise your aeros

You're good, thanks.

Surely the question is, why not?
