  • My laptop keeps overheating and suddenly shutting down. I hoovered the vents, but it didn't help. Looks like it needs to be taken apart and cleaned properly. Maybe even that is not a solution. Never disassembled a laptop. Any ideas what to do?

    Dismantle and new heat transfer paste between the heat sinks. Actually clean the blades of the fan.

  • Don't blow compressed air into the vents.

    A small computer shop wouldn't charge much to open it up and clean it out if you don't have the confidence to do it.

    It sounds like you're not even sure what the problem is, overheating is just a guess? Instead wasting a lot of your time, probably pointlessly, get someone else to do it. It's amazing how many people say their laptops overheating and shutting down, when usually its a faulty HDD or something

  • Best road shoes for around the £150 mark?

    Thanks. Going to take it to the repair shop.
    Another question then - Can you recommend a place in London?

  • Dolan precursa

    Thanks, I hope to be able to find a shop that sells it. I'm not able to find one in my country. I asked a shop to search for the frame.

  • Here's an idea; look at steel frames. Although the Dolan is plentiful and cheap, widening your search criteria can't hurt, and a steel frame will do all the things you list just as well as an aluminium one.

    no

    it's heavy and flexible. I wan't to get rid of my steel conversion frame and get a light alu frame with carbon fork.

  • Best road shoes for around the £150 mark?

    depends on your feet.

    I tested about 10 brands of SPD shoes and the only ones I'm able to wear are North Wave shoes. When wearing brands such as Shimano my feet go numb since the shoes are too small.

    Giro Trans are bloody good shoes imo, they also come in a wide fitting (HV high volume) if yourve got broad plates.

  • Looks like 130. Should say on the chainring. Any idea how may teeth are on the ring?

  • 40t, i'll check today;

  • Why don't you just measure the distance between the bolts, then check that measurement out on somewhere like sheldonbrown?

  • It's the same cranks on the new plug so that might help?

  • yea i'll do that today was just checking if anyone had experience with stock charge cranks

  • 130, did you have a gander at the back of the chainring?

  • nope; i'll do that today and get a chainring from velosolo or velodrome shop or something.

  • 40t, i'll check today;

    Definitely a 130 then.

    Brev M Messenger for about £10-15 from the top of my head, it's a chainring, as long it's round it's games.

  • mdcc_tester, it's ok to have a steel frame at the track. There is no climbing involved so weight is not a real issue. For some races it is required to ride a steel bike (NJS). But for riding outside in the wind, up hills and mountains, it's much better to use a lightweight frame and fork. Because I ride longer distances on my fixed I wan't a lightweight frame I can easily push up a hill. I'm trying to make myself lightweight by cycling and going to the gym but my bicycle has to loose some weight as well.

    Besides, alu looks better.
