That aside, were Universal super (and super safe) lightweight handbuilt by pixies bike builderersin the 80's or what?
What.
Universal were the cheapest of the cheap. Far lower quality than Raleigh. Mind you, it's probably a damn sight better made than the cheap end of bikes these days. And your bro in law sounds great. Ride it until you have built the bike of your dreams. -

Would vegan mums breastfeed their babies; I mean, is breast milk "acceptable" as long as it stays within the family so to speak?
-
• #42079
Human breast milk is not only acceptable but desirable.

Thanks Indra, I want the black Omniums and a black CK headset, also want new wheels but no idea what yet, the search continues!
The really low end SE bikes have a one piece crank, not even joking.
Thats a draft, not a lager. But you can see it was a reasonable question.
Yeah my 2010 lager currently has FSA Vero cranks and I had a new bb fitted a few months ago so I should be OK.

^^Thanks.

Can I fit a SRAM Omnium crankset on my SE lager. Well, not me personally but in theory? Starting to get my birthday parts list together to make my bike nicer.
should be do able, but check that your frame is faced or this will need to be done
if you want to do all these upgrades your bike will turn into a boy racer equivalent, lots of very nice parts on a rather basic chassis

Thanks DJ I'll check. I know about the boy racer thing. I like my stickered frame and I will get a new one but then the parts can move too.

Does anyone know if it's possible to pull a dent out of a frame by gluing a handle on with araldite, and then cutting it off after? Or is this a dumb idea? I will remove the paint first

has this site ever had a saddle try out pool...like a collection of saddles owned collectively that people could borrow for a fortnight say to try out. it could be run like a library...?

Yes

Sounds like Brick Lane market, but I guess they only do Brooks.

yes, but it never took off

Yes
Please can you explain why? Is it something to do with fatiguing the metal when you bend it back? Thanks
-
• #42090
Mostly that, any dent big enough to compromise the structure will only be worse after it's been flexed back into the original shape. Also glue isn't strong enough to pull dents out of small diameter tubes, so it wouldn't work anyway. You could pull out a dent by brazing a rod to the middle of the dent and pulling that, but you wouldn't want to. If it's too big to fill, you want either a new tube or new frame.

I like her spherical grip training tools.

I don't think they're doing that any more.
I had a draft back in 2009 which had 2 piece cranks. -
• #42097
Noob question but does having toe clips have any effect when riding fixed?
-
• #42098
um
-
• #42099
They make you go faster. The material is more aerodynamic than mere shoe alone.
Carbon toeclips are obviously even more aero than metal ones, so get those if you can.
-

Depends on your pedaling style, they're more aerodynamic on the front stroke but less on the back. If you're a 'forward-heavy' pedaler, they should help you out but those who focus their speed and the up/back stroke might actually find they slow you down.
