  • has anyone tried to put an inner Rotor Q ring to a 2011 Campagnolo Ultra Torque 11 compact crankset ( 50/34 )? anyone encountered any problems putting it?

  • What BCD do Campag use for their compact rings?

  • New groupset in mind - should I go SRAM Force or Campagnolo Chorus? I am currently Athena (with an Sram Force chainset).

  • I would definitly say Chorus. Nicer feeling levers, more gear control (IMHO. As you can shift more in one throw), and nicer looking.

  • What BCD do Campag use for their compact rings?

    110mm

  • Best bang for buck windproof sleeveless baselayer. Gore?

  • Do that after rides that end on windy mountain tops.

Maybe if it was more fitted and had a pink band somewhere.

  • 110mm

for 4 of the bolts, and 113mm for the hidden fifth bolt.

People have modified 110mm pcd rings to fit Campag CT by extending the fifth hole into an oval, with varying degrees of crudeness, from just attacking it with a file to setting the ring up on a mill and doing a really proper job. Have Rotor not got this covered with a Campag specific product? Oval rings are pure marketing BS, which ought to be an easy sale to American Freds who are prepared to pay US prices for Campag, even though they can't pronounce it.

  • Oval rings are serousy cool looking pieces of marketing BS.

    :P

  • So, I've a pair of these Pearl Izumi shoes:

They're the Pearl Izumi Race MTB Shoe.

The clicky buckle style clip on them has failed following me emergancy stopping on my way home last night, and failing to unclip as I fell ungainly to the floor. It's kind of squashed sideways. They simply screw in and out of the shoe. Does anyone know where I might be able to get another one from?

I've contacted a couple of shops that are listed as being stockists of pearl izumi products, and neither thinks that they can get hold of them for me. Any ideas?

    Cheers!

  • Hang around under the tables at lmnh with a screwdriver.

  • I've now managed to get hold of the distributors of them. The part isn't availiable as a spare. Fuchsticks.

I think that ^ may be my best plan. Unless there's someone out there that's got an old pair of Pearl Izumi shoes?

  • Do Ultegra 6700 brake callipers / leavers have the same cable pull ratio as DA 7900?

ie if you had Ultegra 6700 levers would the DA 7900's be the ideal match?

Also is it just a weight difference between the DA and the Ultegra callipers?

    Cheers.

  • What sized gap do most people have between their crank arm and bottom bracket/frame?

  • a reasonably sized gap

  • Roughly average.

  • Any idea in quantifiable size..

  • You just need enough space for it not to catch.

  • 2-3mm to chainstay

  • Mine's looking like 5mm. Thanks for the advice, may have to screw the BB in further, although it's flush with the frame at the moment.

  • if you screw it in further one side it'll protrude more on the other side; which may result in unevenly sized gaps

unless you have a compression axle, they can be shimmed in and out at will

  • I have one of the miche primato bottom brackets, I think it's adjustable, although not too sure. First time bottom bracket installer seeks advice and understanding. Ha.

Ooh ooh it's the question I always answer. ;)

Yes, 6700 and 7900 will match up correctly. The difference is pretty much just weight as far as I know, and even then it's only about 20g / 6% difference for the pair. D-A might be a bit stiffer maybe?

The important thing is to tighten the bottom bracket cups (and then the crank bolts) to the correct torque, so they don't loosen or fail. If you have clearance issues once you've done that then you may need to seek alternative solutions (e.g. having the chainstay dimpled).
