There's not really enough thread, and the thread pitch is very fine, so i don't have anything that will screw on. Worried that a longer screw would bent and snap off though

Longer screw and a nut?
-
• #38879
LBS might have something knocking around.
-
• #38880
You only need the screw to poke out enough to stick a nut on, unless you actually want to adjust things, so it should be pretty sturdy.
-
• #38881
yeah that's an idea, i'll try tomorrow

I had to replace the adjuster screw on a DX derailleur to accomodate a 14-34 block, works just fine now.
Not exactly your issue, but csb nonetheless. -

50 posts in 15min. Lame.

Shit, their going to overtake my post count in a day and a half. Are they the harbinger of the apocalypse?
-
• #38887
LBS had nothing to help with my derailleur issue. Suppose I'll look online for a solution, or take the frame down to the blacksmith and get him to weld a lump onto the frame...
-
• #38888
what derailleur is it stu? Might be worth trying a different one before you butcher your frame
-
• #38889
it's a suntour VX. i might try making a replacement hanger. but welding a bit onto the frame wouldn't really damage it, you could always file it off at a later date
-
• #38890
looking at this picture it seems mine definitely has a piece broken off the stop
-
• #38891
Have you got any other derailleurs you could put on there to see which is wrong, the frame or the derailleur?
-
• #38892
I haven't, all I've got is one with a dropout fitting (or whatever its called), i.e. doesn't mount directly into the frame. There is maybe just enough room to fit a specially shaped washer in between the frame hanger and the derailleur so I will make something like this and see if it helps:

Anyone used silicone gel like Dermatix on scars?

What's my cadence at 29mph on 52x19?
Should I be comfortable with it?
-
• #38895
approx 135rpm assuming 23mm tyres
should not be a problem at all
-
• #38896
I wouldn't call it a "comfortable" cadence.
-
• #38897
HTFU fatty
185rpm was uncomfortable on 48/19

Why can't there ever be anything good to watch on TV while most of the nation are at home. Repetitive shite year on year

Proper track chains don't use rivet-replacement bolts.

I believe they are referred to in the industry as "old favourites"
Could you fit a little nut onto the end of the adjustment screw? Might give it something to hit.
