Q
what drill bit would be suitabe for drilling a fork crown (501 tubing)?Do you mean drill or drill bit? You need a pillar drill, ordinary HSS 6mm bit
Is it undrilled? If so, yes- pillar drill.
However if it's an older fork that you wish to use a modern brake caliper on then you can just widen the existing hole with your HSS bit in a hand drill.

Thank you both very much.

trying to get a pair of campy cranks off ultra torque cups. any good suggestions to alternatives to the screw tool? Something out of a normal toolbox rather : )

Do you mean you're trying to get the centre bolt out? The proper tool is under a tenner. You can use the long arm of a normal 8mm Allen key, but you need a bit of stout tubing which fits fairly closely over the short end to provide the necessary leverage.
I'm guessing they are not Super Record as you're being cheap, but just in case they are, bear in mind that models with Titanium axles use a left hand thread on the centre bolt.

I have that tool, should you wish to borrow it.

Can I drink red wine whilst watching a Hendrix documentary?

^ Yes but be sure to take plenty of vesparax before passing out.

I'm just digging a pool to fill with vomit, I might go swimming in it after the vesparax.

I've just realized I have worn stiff cycling shoes exclusively for about 3 weeks. Will I cause the arches of my feet to turn to jelly from lack of use?

No I have that obscene campagnolo wrench I need the press tool that pulls the crank off the cups. I know from experience exotic tools like these are rarely stocked in shops here and I dont want to spend the weekend waiting for it to be delivered from some .com

Thanks a ton. What I think I need is actually http://www.parktool.com/uploads/thumbnails/uploads/products/7f18222a0465817685233df5ec7732dd9fb5a6d0_430x390.jpg -

Do you know what you have, and what you're doing? UltraTorque (UT) don't need any kind of puller tool, you just pull them out by hand after removing the centre bolt and the drive side circlip.
PowerTorque (POS) cranks need that puller to get the NDS crank off the axle spline, just one of the many reasons I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. You also need the official Campagnolo piece of cardboard to protect the crank from the puller.

Shitmano may be easier to change, but you do it more often. I prefer the jack of all trades Sram myself ;)
