  • why's that bad?

    bit of a weenie

  • I generally only have one cassette with me

Is it a copy of this?

  • I refer the good gentleman to my 10.6kg cross bike.

  • ok now answer my question :P

Can someone let me know if there are any carbon 1" fork that I can buy new except for Columbus Minimal? Don't want to spend more than £160 which is the cost of Minimal.

Minimal is probably the best value. Cheapest option is probably the Tifosi CK7 for about £95.

There's possibly the Advanced FF4 from Ceeway for about the same money (if they still make them/have stock); Ritchey Carbon Comp if you can find it (seem to be some new for about £130 on eBay - probably from the US though); and the Easton EC90 SL, if they're still made.

At the pricier end there's the £300+ Colnago Street one (which are excellent, I have them on my road bike), or Wound Ups. Not much else out there these days. The Minimal will look the best with a conventional (non-integrated) headset on a steel frame IMO.

  • alloy steerer .. meh

I don't think you'll find any 1" carbon forks with a carbon steerer. I've never seen any. If you want properly light you'll have to spend a lot more than £160.

  • I refer the good gentleman to my 10.6kg cross bike that I desperately want to replace with a much lighter one.

    :-)

    Look

    EC90 Aero

    I have both.

  • Can be bought brand new?

And you HAD EC90 aero :P
(I still have it which I might end up selling soon)

  • ^ I stand corrected - and I also forgot the Reynolds Ouzo Pro which had a carbon steerer and came in a 1" version.

I was just saying to Regal that they do exist.

    You can't buy either new.

And yes, I HAD EC90 Aero, until a van wrote them off.

Reynolds Ouzo Pro you say. I shall look these up.

  • so will you be interested in EC90 aero if I am going to sell them?
If so I'll let you know before I put an ad up.

  • Hmm... yes please. Why are you getting rid???

  • ^^^ They were the stock fork on Pegorettis until he developed his own. Look like this:

  • Hmm... yes please. Why are you getting rid???

I maybe soon getting a F+F combo that actually fits me (rather than spacers galore, uncut steerer etc.) I will then be offloading my F+F and crankset with other bits like seatpost, stem etc.

  • The best 1" carbon fork I ever had was the Time one, and there are a few on eBay at the moment for around £75-120.

  • ^^^ What on earth is going on with the position of those levers?

  • Probably a hood rider.

  • what the hell is the difference between a shim and an inverse shim? surely you just shim things.
lever to bar, bar to stem, stem to steerer, seatpost to seattube etc.....

or is that what pedants call shimming the stem to fit the bar as opposed to the bar to fit the stem?

  • TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

It's an old old old forum joke.

  • an inverse shim is the inverse of a shim. it's what you use when the thing is too big.
My Spoon Is Too Big (Original) - YouTube

  • I normally compare shims and inverse shims to short and long weights.

  • File with 'Sky Hooks' and 'Tartan Paint'

  • Eg.

Q.Pls halp. I has bought hipster's first fixie but my bars are 26.0 and my sweeeeet njs stem is 25.4 how do I make them work together?

    A. Inverse shim. You have to order them online.

    Quoted for posterity.
