That was my intuitive thought too, which would lead us to conclude that it would taste equally bad if I reheated it on a stove (all else being equal). I haven't tested this but for some reason I have a feeling that it would taste worse in a microwave, however I can't see why the microwaves would have any specific effect (other than heating) on the compounds that give coffee it's taste. I also wondered if it was related to the old-wives-tale that twice boiled water makes inferior tea due to a reduction in dissolved Oxygen in the water?

where can I buy a cupcake tray from this evening, apart from heading into oxford street john lewis?
preferably somewhere not terribly out of the way between clerkenwell and stockwell. also, what is the proper name for them? (metal baking tray with indents for 16 cupcakes) -

I'm not sure where to get one - Robert Dyas, maybe? - but they're called cupcake tins. Or at least, the muffin ones are called muffin tins...

what's the difference? do muffin tins make bigger cakes?
-
• #34731
Muffins are bigger, I think the tin I have at home has space for 12.
Don't take my word for it though, I've used it precisely once and it was a complete disaster!

looked online, think the cupcake tins (also called bun tins) are the same number, just shallower.
so... hats. are you in tonight? can I come round and borrow the tin?
I don't know why it seems so important that I make little cakes instead of 1 big round one or a loaf. -

Anyone know anywhere good to lock up round the Mandarin Oriental Hotel?
in fact is there a thread for such questions?

I get the wanting to make small cakes instead of a big one, just seems nearer I think.

I've been making the same cake every week for months. just a bit bored is all, but it's a reliable recipe. -

In the bath this morning I caught myself humming a Coldplay song - then I started singing it.
Should I have drowned myself, or had a shower instead?

^^^Convinced of it. Chris Martin's voice dripped down my back as if he was washing it with a vocal-sponge ever so gently.

Have you got any dumbells? I do curls using my knee as an anchor point, so place your forearm along your quad with your wrist sticking past yoru knee, hold the dumbell and curl it with your wrist. Do palm facing up and down and sideways too. Start with a small weight. Aim for 20 reps, 3 sets. Work up to five then upgrade weight.
I have a feeling the aromatic compounds in coffee evaporate pretty fast (that's why it smells nice, after all), even more so if you maintain a high temperature for longer duration. So, your coffee gets worse as a function of time x temperature after brewing, and reheating obviously puts a lot more area under the time/temp graph. When the aromatics have been driven off sufficiently, they can no longer disguise the basically disgusting flavour of coffee.
