  • They are also open weekends. Pretty sure jim's alive, somewhere.

  • I'm reliably informed that it was part of an art/music thing going on. something to do with opera I think. There were five hovering over us on wednesday in highgate when we played polo - it was like being invaded!

This is not at all what I expected!

  • Has anyone got a spare hi flange rear record pista hub in their parts bin?

  • Boris bike question, usage free up to 30 minutes but can you just take out another bike at the same docking station?

  • after 15/30 minutes I think.

  • 30 minutes - redock - wait 5 minutes - new 30 minutes I think :)

  • Ha thanks. I found it in regents canal today and it's now in one of the ponds where I work. Her shell isn't in great shape but general she seems healthy. I will look after her until my move to Bournemouth in October when I'll try to find her a good home. Also definitely not a tortoise- it's a red eared slider.

Seriously though if anyone on here knows a good home for her let me know. It needs to be big as she is a large girl (carapace around 30cm).

i saw that last saturday! near the kingsland bridge. sucks if someone just dumped her. props for the rescue

  • Talking of pets, what kind of FUCKING IDIOT thinks this is an acceptable pet to have in a multi-storey apartment building?

I'm honestly trying to understand the thinking behind this. I've got plenty of time to ponder because, boy, has it been hard to sleep lately...

  • Anyone know exactly how wide a tyre can be fitted on a standard fulcrum 5 clincher? Have ordered cyclocross (700x35 vittoria cross pros) tyres for them. If not, I can get a new wheelset (the cyclocross version, I guess) but I'd rather not buy a new wheel set..

Sheldon knows. How wide is the rim?

I run 35mm on CXP33s and haven't had any problems, yet.

a japanese friend is quite handy on this..

  • If they're supposed to be pronounced Japanese-style then it'll be 'Tan-ge' but I always think 'Tanj' in my head, so...

  • Amazing...So technically the fulcum five has a 15mm inner rim. Judging by Georg Boeger's chart, that allows for a 32mm tyre at the higher end of what will work. Unfortunately I ordered a 34mm. The true width of the vittoria's ordered (34mm), when inflated to 50psi, was actually 31.5mm according to various reviews. WINNING.

No new wheels needed for me then...

  • Has anyone got a spare hi flange rear record pista hub in their parts bin?

Yes, but it's 40h and currently has a rim attached to it. Will split, see my parts bin clearance thread.

Fixed link. That looks like Sheldon's chart prettied up but not otherwise altered, and look at the url: tandem-fahren.de

i.e. it's a table for fat Germans on tandems, who will naturally run high enough tyre pressures to get over the problem of using over-wide tyres on narrow rims.

    My own recommendation is this:

which will work well for solos at tyre pressures appropriate for cyclocross

  • Is there any difference in these different-looking SG75 cranks despite the typeface?

Which ones are newest? Which ones are BEST?

  • @ mdcc_tester:

So consequently, the fulcrum with a 15 inner and 20 outer won't be able to run a 31.5mm cross tyre? (Based on your chart)

  • ^^To the best of my knowledge, despite the contradiction in terms, the 75s remained the same. Those in the middle are the oldest, and the ones I have. Newer typeface is awful, not that the ones I ride are interesting. Very good cranks, but quite boring.

  • Yet their stated 'CX wheels' are the same inner and outer dimensions (despite being apparently able to take up to a 35mm tyre).

    No sense.

  • As I've said many times before on this topic, there's a big difference between what can be made to work and what works best. You could put 32mm wide CX tyres on a 20mm wide rim, and many people have, but there's a reason why people are migrating to wider rims. Campag are being retarded on this, but I expect sheer market pressure will force them to catch up eventually.

  • A decent option seems to be american classic mag clincher. 22 outer, 18 inner. 32 spoke rear, 28 spoke front. Yet only weighing 1108g (Weight provided by AC, so not clear) but seems like a much better option. Excellent..
