Radiator question:
I just closed the lockshield valves on two of my radiators, since turning down the thermostats doesn't do anything to reduce their temperature (I am assuming the thermostatic valves are broken).
Can this have a negative effect on my boiler?
I'd have posted this on the DIY thread but I'd appreciate some guidance before tomorrow morning (when the boiler will switch on and potentially become angry about the restricted flow?) and AQA is a more active thread.
I've assumed that radiators are typically connected in parallel rather than series, so that effectively 'turning off' one of them by restricting flow shouldn't have any negative effects. But it's a rental property so I can't afford to accidentally blow up the boiler or something...
Wise words appreciated, thanks in advance.

The design presumption is that at any given time, some of the radiators will have zero flow as the TRV will be closed. Logic suggests that closing off the flow by other means will just simulate the same effect.

Ta; good logic and what I needed to hear, thanks.

Im looking at 90s road frames to build up similar too
Canondale R900
Giant CadexWhat similar frames are quite common on the bay/online sales that you'd recommend looking at? Looking for things that have decent cable routing (braze ons already on) and 130mm spacing

What are those little crosses in circles called that printers use to line up an ad print etc?
-
• #33635
crosshairs?
-
• #33636
^ i thought that but apparently there is a special name for them...
For print ads, there's bleed size, trim size then the name for the little crosses in circles.

Does anyone know of a computer hardware store in or near Venice, Italy...?
Trying to arrange purchase of a Dell lap top charger for my boss!

Ok so the computer saga continues... I've now got a fully working computer with windows 7 and all the updates, office and some other basic gubbins, so thank you.
Now i discover the battery doesn't work at all and the computer dies as soon as I unplug it. This battery on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140555560761#ht_1895wt_1189) has the same model number and everything else seems the same, apart from the fact the ebay one is 14.8V while the extant one is 14.4V... is that likely to be a problem? Will the ebay one work ok?

Good quality lead crystal glassware. Where to buy?
I was always under the impression Waterford was a bit Elizabeth Duke but I might be completely wrong. I want some nice Scotch tumblers.

Need to remove a rear cassette, is it rude to go into a bike shop and ask to borrow tools and do on the spot?

Ahh.
Report and Comment are two seperate options, I fell in the same trap too. Just click comment and either 'I approve' or 'Idisapprove' to add or neg rep respectively.
There's work, you just get paid twice as much in Aussie.
