Is there any way to delete music as youre listening to it on an ipod?
I keep coming across songs i will *NEVER *want to listen to again but with so many songs, its difficult to actually sit at home listening to them.
Is there other ways of cleaning up ones music library?
And what is the best alternative to iTunes? iTunes sucks balls IMHO.
can you still rate songs on device? rate everything you don't like as one star, then sync with your laptop and create a smart playlist for one star songs. then delete them.

1.5" or 1.95" tyres for a SS MTB for commuting use?
I feel like 1.5 is the way to go, but then again, I can't fit tyres as big as 1.95 on any of my other bikes and it feels like a shame to miss out.
I'm overthinking it, right? It'll make no noticeable difference, right?

What sort of terrain are you commuting over- tow paths, fire trails, full on XC?

Full on London Roads.
The answer's 1.5. I'm being an idiot.

Are there any fire trails in London? Specifically between Greenwich and Farringdon?

No ipods. I just want to connect what's on my pc to my hifi. Previously this was achieved via the audio out. Running wires across the house seems as anachronistic as riding bikes with only one gear.
Wait. Come back.Apple Airport Express plugs into your stereo and connects to your wi-fi.
Use one of these to stream your PC's sound to it

(iTunes does it natively, Airfoil works very well, but costs money. Not tried the others) -

Or create a smart playlist for >1 star songs and only sync that playlist rather than your entire music collection.

Ta; I've decided on Schwalbe City Jets now though since they're half the price and it's just a beater build.

People here will be perfectly happy to recommend parts etc, but if you want to build your own bike up (What most of the people here recommend) then a frame is obviously a good starting point.
Expensive from scratch, for your first bike, though.
Buy a nice complete bike from the classifieds and then worry about upgrading the parts later, I'd say. Eventually you'll have a bits box that's big enough to build 10 bikes from and you can start picking up frames as well. By that time there will be no hope for you and you'll be well down the slippery slope of bike purchases anyway.

^This is true, and what I did actually. So now I've got one frame and two groupsets with plenty of misc saddles levers etc flopping about.

Just purchased a CAADX 5 cyclocross bike and it comes with some Tektro Cantilever brakes.
I've been advised than Mini-V brakes may be better but I haven't got a clue. Any suggestions on a half decent set?

How do i convert m4p files to m4a so they play on my phone? Certain albums and itunes purchased music show as being on my phone as files, but not in the music player.
-
• #33016
^ i'm pretty sure the 'p' in m4p stands for protected.
This is probably why they aren't showing up in your music player. What phone do you have?
-
• #33017
m4p is m4a with copy protection - linked to your iTunes account in other words. Burn them to a CD in iTunes then rip them back onto your computer. If you use another program for the last stage you can keep them seperate so you don't end up with loads of duplicates.

I have the tyres on my fixie and I rate them. Where are they half the price?

Galaxy note. I did try copying via usb, which kept asking me to convert them and then crashed.

I have 17,000 songs of which about 1,900 are protected. Not all purchased songs are m4p despite being bought from itunes. Dont have enough cds or time to burn and reinstall. Without going through every folder, I don't know what is protected.
I have a 1tb external harddrive. Is there any way to burn a virtual cd? -

I've heard the Tektro mini-v will come recommended.

^Crimson Ape: I don't know if it's still in iTunes but have a look for the "iTunes Plus" feature and in particular the "Upgrade library" function.
This (record company notwithstanding) allows you to upgrade your DRM-encumbered M4Ps to DRM-free MP3s.There are also 3rd party utilities that do it but I cannot vouch for their efficacy or their freedom from malware. You can just search for all m4p files and throw them all at one of these. Search for 'm4p drm remover' and see what comes up.
I have heard that http://www.virtualcd-online.com/ works for burning virtual CDs if you want to try that.

Not sure if you can burn a virtual CD. You have to do it through iTunes I think, so if you can somehow trick iTunes into burning a virtual CD, sure. I'm sure someone else has had the same problem - I'd Google it and see what comes up.

Are veloflex records worth it? They're pretty bloody light is my main thinking
I have neither, and about 40 gigs of music which I suspect half is rubbish I never want to hear again...
Any way to clean it up on the go? As i hear it, I mark it/delete it?
