What pray tell Elvis requires such robust clip and strap foot retention?

Brakeless hillbombing probably.

Fear/comfort.
I hate not riding clipless. It feels so spongy. But I'm hoping the double straps might alleviate this.

Brakeless hillbombing probably.
Take that back! I have never bombed any hills, nor do I wish to.

I put the second strap through the two holes in the back plate then through the hole in the clip. the other strap goes through like normal then sits on top of the clip.
Cheers for that. I'll give that a go.

I didn't say what size bombs you were using. Cap bombs are awesome.

Still confused.what forces being made to go old school?

Purchasing a bike in X location. Having to cycle it to Y location. Then have to go out in the evening so flat and clips are the only option.
As I said, it's complete overkill.

Ah, yes yes yes, an evening with normal people who don't habitually waddle in sidis

The sort of bar I'm going to won't be Look compatible.

Proper laminated strap mean you probably only required just the one instead of a double.

Getting new friends is preferable to going back to clips&straps

Do TT levers matter what side they're on? I know they say left and right, but how significant is this?
Depends which levers, most of them are ambidextrous as long as you remember to flip over the screw/nut at the lever pivot. Even if you don't, it only matters at non-zero yaw angles.

Depends on the rim and the rider; on a Zipp 808, it would be fine for pretty much anybody, on Mavic CX18s it would be OK for a skinny pursuiter but for a big sprinter not so much. Bear in mind that loads of road wheels are 16/20, and road sprinters don't seem to be troubled by them. Old fashioned spoke counts had more to do with a combination of very light (and therefore noodley) rims and poor fatigue strength of spokes. Both have changed a lot in the modern era.
For an 80kg all types rider what would you recommend?

fuck it, just bought some Assos.
You weren't offended by their advertising then?
Can anybody even older than me remember how long Assos have been using that exact pose for their bib-products? When I was a teenager, the 'winter clothing' review in the comic was looked forward to with the same kind of puerile fervour now attached to the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Suddenly, in easily-offended 21st century Britainistan, somebody thinks it's offensive.

Well, I'm heavier than that and sprint round Calshot on Ellipses without any trouble, and they are 20/20, so I'd say ≥30mm deep rims and fat spokes will be fine at 20/24. I'd probably lay off the CX-Rays until the rim depth is >50mm

Offensive? Fuck off, whinging cunts. Suck the offence out of that, cock smokers.

there was a guy who made a mount for a front brake so i didn't have to drill the forks. It used a quill wedge that when up into the crown, he caught a lot of flak because he'd made it out of mild steel and people didn't think it would be strong enough.
anyone remember that / know where the post was?

"Recommended Maximum Rider Weight Limit
90kg"Looks fine

You can do it like this but I found that it put too much pressure on the front of mt foot
