I've changed it now- any better?
-
• #30679
Yes, have you ridden up Titsey Hill before?
-
• #30680
Yes, it is quite steep.
You have a point, maybe a flatter route might be better.
On a related note- first time out with the 11-25 on the back tomorrow.

You've got to come over that ridge at some point, and there aren't many easy options. The easiest way up is the B2024 from Westerham which never really gets steep, but you have to go out of your way a bit to get to it.
Another option is to modify your route out of Lingfield and head up through Tandridge, turn left on the A25, first right and head up Tandridge Hill Lane. It'll be rough after all this wind and rain recently though.

• #30682
Ok, re-routed via the B2024, what do you think now?
-
• #30683
That you should pop in for a cup of tea on your way past.

• #30684
No cake would be safe I am afraid

then Route 21 from Crawley to Lewisham.
I have ridden from crawley to lewisham and it was on decent roads. But cannot remember what route we used.

Why won't my Marathon+ seat on my Weinmann rim? About 4" of tyre just won't come out onto the bead. I tried some fairy liquid (as you do with car tyres) but it hasn't done much.
What size is your rim?
What size is your tyre?

If you can't work out why it's this way round, clearly you have never seen lost in translation! ;)
-
• #30688
i keep passing wind, but i figure its best to stay up.

26" or 559 for both. Tyre fitted fine on another rim but just doesn't want to seat on this one.

Serious answer; Japan has high exports but low raw materials, therefore, shipping goods into ports cost more as there is less space on incoming ships and in bonded wharehousing. Due to the discrepancy between imports and exports (more will always go in than come out as some is used in the domestic market) there will always be a surplus of space on outgoing freight vessels, and, like the Ryanair business model it is always better to have someone paying something than, no-one paying nothing, so outgoing freight will be relatively cheap.
Disclaimer: I am not a logistics expert and am drunk I don't know if it makes sense. But it is my drunken layperson's understanding of he situation.

What tyre width and rim width?
You can temporarily over-inflate to get it seated, maximum tyre or rim pressure rating (whichever is lower) + 50% shouldn't do any harm.
Also, get some of this:

Is a hosting provider (HP) the same as an ISP? I am proofreading a Danish friend of mine's résumé and he has written HP a lot. Is this a common English acronym or does he mean something else?
-
• #30693
does he not mean an actual hosting provider like http://www.1and1.com/ ?

Are the national cycle routes clearly signposted, and suitable for road tyres (specifically wondering about routes 20 and 21)?
Doing National Route 1 from Dover to Greenwich in a couple of weeks and have recce'd part of that route. Some of it is certainly 'rough' but so long as you are awake it's nothing unreasonable.

^^Probably. I'm about as internet-savvy as the oldsters in your local library. Thanks.

An ISP often provides hosting, and a hosting provider can provide Internet/data connectivity, but they are not the same thing.

Cheers. I hadn't heard the term before.

Also, get some of this:Tyre - 47mm
Rim - 19mm inside seat.Max tyre pressure is 75psi so I took it to 90 and it made no difference, I'll try a little more. Can't find the max rim pressure. I may have to buy some of that stuff.

I'm probably being patronising here, but have you made sure that the bead on the other side is pushed into the centre? The effective diameter is normally lower in the middle of rim, giving you a bit more wiggle room.

It's on the rim, it won't come out of the well properly on one part of the rim on both sides. It wasn't that tight getting it on. I've had other tyres seat fine on there.
fuck it, just bought some Assos.
