  • I've been commuting for two years now between Clapham North and Blackfriars.

I ride a Globe Roll 1, apparently my gear ratio is 42:17 (based on this http://www.specialized.com/ja/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?sid=10Roll).

I'm finding the commute a bit "easy" these days, I can't really explain it properly but it feels like I could do with shifting up a gear to make the ride more efficient.

What is the easiest and cheapest way for me to put a bit more a challenge back into my daily rides?

Blindfold or ride to work via Aberdeen.

  • Let me guess- I'm on my own here, and everyone thinks I am barking.

Been a while. Can't believe my folks hadn't seen this.

  • I haven't seen a hippy mega post for a while

  • I bought and use a SRAM S80 for less than your budget on ebay a couple of years ago.

Aero helmet and skinsuit or an aero position tweak are probably more cost effective.

    But everyone wants nice wheels.

    Duly noted.

I don't need to be told to buy a skinsuit twice.

  • Ha ha I'd love to see someone commuting on that.

  • I think the chances of producing anything as horrific as the forum jersey are limited.

  • Forum skinsuit group buy? I need a new commuting outfit...

I was going to buy a Lea Valley CC one but could definitely be persuaded to buy something stupid. Especially for commuting on.

  • I'm after a video of chris hoy winning an exciting keirin for a presentation I'm doing tomorrow (don't ask)

I won't have access to the internet so I don't think youtube is suitable, any good ideas from anyone?

  • A skinsuit made from Mario Cipollini's actual skin would be good.

A little Ted Bundyish, but worth the meta-lulz.

    Meta-lulz are always worth it.

  • anyone know why chrome keeps throwing this up for forum pages?

  • Head to moderator thread for explanation

  • ah well thats that then cheers

Playing catchup during a lazy afternoon.

  • I'm planning on riding to Paris this weekend and taking the Eurostar back. I'm looking to take my bike on as luggage which means I need to pull it apart and put it in a bike bag.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a bike bag suitable for this, ideally one that will pack very small and fit in a saddle bag for the ride down?

  • The plastic CTC ones? They're still a decent size though.

  • Is a longer bottom bracket longer on both sides or just on drive side?

So when moving from 110mm to 114mm, would that move the cranks 2mm further out on each side, or move the drive side spider 4mm?

bin bag? Loads of people ride to Paris, do they all have to take a bag to bring the bike back in?

    Try cyclingtorrents.nl

  • Not a bad idea. Cheap and portable.
This page has details about travelling with the bike. I would rather not have to pay £30 to reserve a spot.

  • Ride back then?

  • does anyone here work for Condor? I'd like to get in touch with their frame builders (Croydon-based I believe), or know of any other South London frame builders? PM would be good, thanks.

  • Don't think he's on here but Angel in the shop is a legend and should be able to help you.

  • I have a reminder in my phone saying "Quantum album released today, BUY"

But can't seem to find it online - anyone know what my drunken brain was going on about?

  • ^^ don't know who build Condor's frames, but Roberts are based in Croydon if that's any use to you.

  • ^ and ^^^ thanks
