I'm not sure if the tigra one is a short one, it came with the bike.
Anyway I'll fit the new chain (once it arrives) till then am I OK to run the chain in the middle range? It seems to run fine, I just don't want to wear out cassettes or chain rings.

No, it'll exploded and give you AIDS.

I believe (but will let someone more qualified than me answer definitively) that if the chain is too short, and you are in large to large ring/sprocket, then you put the mech under pressure which it cannot cope with, leading to it possibly failing- by snapping and then plunging into the spokes.
This is generally bad news, for the mech, wheel and frame. Possibly also the rider, if he or she was not expecting the rear wheel to lock up at that point.
But you have a triple- just avoid the big ring until the new chain arrives. Sorted.

That happened to me, the merc arm simply got bent out of alignment due to the 30/46 crankset, not fun having that when climbing 33% with a moderate load...

aguardiante - home brew rum in cuba, but name is used all over latin speaking world. There's a reason it's not exported.

It's your fault I'm back on the rum vibe btw.

I can confirm this.
I replaced my crank set with something that had a little more range, but I was too lazy to replace the chain. A few days later, the derailleur arm plunged into the heart of the rear wheel, necessitating the replacement of the cassette, chain, a few spokes, and of course the derallier (ultegra). It wasn't cheap.
I believe it's called "riding top to top" btw.

Ok, one for the computer geniuses...
Today my MacBook wouldn't start up. It chimed, had the grey screen with Apple logo and a never before seen progress bar that never filled up. The mac then turns off.
I restarted it using the install disc and used Disc Utility to see what was up. After trying to Verify Disc it basically said it couldn't because the drive was fucked.
I then used the diagnostics to run an Apple Hardware Test which then told me that the hardware is in top nick. I'm currently running an extended test which takes over one hour apparently.
It's a 2007 13" MacBook running Snow Leopard.
What the fuck is wrong with it?
Does anyone know of a list of CPUs showing speed, clock speeds, power usage and temperature?
I'm looking for a low power, low temperature CPU to replace a Pentium M.
Come on computer geeks, help us out!

This has been discussed many times, e.g.
Tektro r538 rear caliper... on the front? -

New bike is set up (VN Yukon) so happy with it.
Can't fit the Garmin and my light though, any ideas on where/ how to mount them?

You're looking for a socket 749, not sure if you would know this but didn't want you buying the wrong kind.
I'm not up to date anymore with this type of thing but these are 2-3year old processors and you might find it difficult to find a replacement. Also these types of cpu's might quite often be soldered directly to the main board, making it difficult to replace without damaging the main board.
Hope that helped a little... it probably didn't :(

Search ebay for "lockblock" you can use these to mount lights etc but can't tell if it would work for you because I don't know what type of light you have. Also can the garmin not go on your bars? You'll probably just need to put it or your light over the top of your tape.

Light is a smart lumar one.

I've had the same problem with a hard drive in the past, took it into a mac store and it was actually the HD despite what the apple diagnostic test said. I got a new hard drive under applecare. Otherwise you'll need to replace it I think... ifixit will help you get do this if you choose to.

Put it over the tape as Sandy suggests?
-
• #23946
Get new MoBo too? That opens up every CPU possibility, and it would be
comical for usdisappointing for you if you replaced the CPU and then discovered that your bus speed was still the bottleneck. -

Light is a smart lumar one.
Lockblocks will most likely work. There are 2 different kinds, 1 where both mounts go the same way and the other where they go in opposite directions.
^Never read the site enough to realise they were like that, only place I could think of where they might discuss the temp, speed etc. I didn't think you were being ungrateful btw
-
• #23948
I'll be surprised if it fits over the tape to be honest.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't

It didn't fit over the tape. The bracket was already wide open.
Moved it left a little on the bar and fitted the garmin on the right of stem. That'll do nicely.
If your Tiagra one is a short cage, which may also explain why your chain turn out to be short.
seemed like the only logical issue I can see.
