Javascript
Javascript is not Java.
Frankly I have no idea what either of them are or do... I just turned off everything that sounded like java.

I wish they did. I want moist spongecake.

my mums a nurse and she says that if it has a head on it, its a sty. Apparently an oldish treatment is to put a used teabag on it for a while. If it doesnt, then it may be connected to sinusightus (sp) and should be checked out. Stys can occur if you're run down or tired and I think they should go away by itself.
Hopefully that helps.
Thanks for the advice, as it happens the Dr's had an appointment earlier today so went and go it checked out and apparently I have an infection of the eye lid! Antibiotics for a week to ensure it doesn't spread to the eye apparently, what joy. All hopes of going for a few pints after work have been dashed.

In the interest of not being a cunt and bending to forum pressure, I've paid for that derailleur. Knowing my luck it will probably get lost in the post now.

You're just not fast enough.
I make no apologies for the fact that I can complete more tasks at once than any other human being in history. If a forum post is late I've probably cured cancer or something.

Your karma is back in check. Jeebuzz would be proud.

Then that would be good luck as you'd get a refund. Not your fault it's gone missing.

Who makes good, reasonably priced single speed freewheels?
White Industary ones seem really expensive (and far too much for me at the moment).
Shimano ones seem to be about £20 a pop.
There are a whole load of cheaper ones about. Are any of these any good, or should I just go for a Shimano one?I'm looking for a 16T I think, and for a 1/8 chain.
I'm interested in this since my £7 eBay freewheel started slipping and crunching (at least, I think it's the freewheel).I think cheaper freewheels are noisier and less smooth. If there's a £20 solution I'd consider that a very good value solution.

i always thought the not drinking while on antibiotics thing was a myth?
i've always been fine if that's any consolation. -

Is it still possible to get a compact crankset that's compatible with a shimano 9-speed cassette and an octalink BB?
-
• #23689
one for tester probably.
what's my best bet for a pair of road wheels around the 400-500 mark?
need to be shimano compatible, i'm around 90kg and they will be summer (best) wheels. hilly rides. clinchers
Want a pair of shimano rs80's with a couple hundred miles on the clock? I've got a pair of ksyrium sl's I've sunk too much money in to to not use so they will be spare very soon.

VM is not the problem.
VM was an experiemtn to see if moving to 32-bit Windows made a difference.
The laptop is running Win7 x64 native. It's also a laptop which means no new soundcard or video card and the sound control stuff is all outboard in the A&H DX anyway. It's DirextX kernel driver that is causing the latency but how to get around this?
When I say soundcard, I mean 'audio interface' so a USB or firewire audio interface from the likes of m-audio, echo, etc etc.
Native windows audio is notoriously bad for latency without custom drivers written for specific audio hardware.what's the A&H thing? allen&heath dj mixer? does this have an audio interface or just used for mixing?
you could try ASIO4ALL drivers too, they might help, but it's going to a kludge solution.
I'd suggest getting the NI traktor USB audio interface thingy. -

i've always been fine if that's any consolation.Maybe you're right at least I hope so (3 pints of tribute down the hatch already ) but the Dr advised against it! We shall see!

RS80 > Ksyrium SL
Just saying. To the OP; RS80s are probably the best wheel in your price bracket, but also don't do anything worthwhile that RS30s (or Mavic Aksiums) don't do for £250 less. The RS80-C50 or Mavic Cosmic Carbone are probably the cheapest road wheels worth upgrading to from the above cheap wheels, and both are above your target price unless you find a particularly good deal on the Shimanos

I don't need both pairs of wheels and I've completely rebuilt the ksyriums, new rims and new spokes so feel I should keep them more than the rs80's.

Anyone know how difficult it is to replace the backlight in an LCD screen?
Rescued a screen from work as it's a size upgrade from the old one, the brightness is fine at the top but fades darker to the bottom. Not sure how long I'm going to be able to put up with it.

(^*n) what about the planet x carbon clinchers? Alloy brake track and aero fairing.
-
• #23696
Not great for hills though.
-
• #23697
They are heavy- 1,786g according to the Planet-X site.
What do Aksiums weigh?
-
• #23698
2kg, doesn't matter they're still faster than Zicral spoked Ksyriums in anything but a hill climb race.
-
• #23699
Be interesting to quantify the aero vs weight thing, over say 50 miles.
I would imagine you could describe it in terms of watts saved fairly easily?

It has its own soundcard. I suggested ASIO4ALL already (I use them with Ableton and um.. name escapes me) but they didn't work either apparently.
I fucking love proper home-made Victoria sponge.
