  • Depends on the grease that's in the grease gun.

I've always used general or lithium grease for wheel bearings.

  • ^^ Neil, I try not to think about it too much. I test mine by throwing myself up Ditchling on a decent ratio and take my Garmin figure for max HR. Always seems to be 196 or 197 for me. Very consistent.

I'll split the difference- 195 it is.

  • If i use tape to attach my tub do I have to leave it over night/cure before I rode on it!? Or is it ready to go?

  • Ready to go.

  • I don't think insurers are interested in depreciation .

If I wrote off my heavily used 2009 FP2, they'd cover me for a brand new FP2...they wouldn't say they'll only give me £500 for a heavily used second hand one.

This is completely wrong unless you have an agreed value insured, not the bike itself insured. Insurers are very interested in depreciation. This is what I have, because my Orrell is not exactly off the peg, but it cost me.

New for old is agreed value wrapped up in consumer friendly packaging.

  • It'll be the same SATA connections so you'll only need the tools to open your mac up. I'd have a look on overclockers.co.uk read the reviews and make your choice, also look at the weekly deals. another alternative is to look on by direct from crucial

    I'll Don Draper it.

Its general grease and it seems very thin and comes out so decided to go thicker moly grease.

  • looking for a 3/32 19t sprocket, preferably in steel

apart from the euro asia are there any others that spring to mind, who makes a good quality reasonably priced one?

  • Andel, Surly and Miche.

  • any one in particular stand out - and if so why - or just find the cheapest of the above?

  • Not Miche thing with a carier.

    I'd say condor.

  • I've learnt to love like the carrier, but unless you use it on both sides of every fixed hub you own it's a bit of a pain. So long as it's not aluminium or pressed steel it should be fine.

  • It's still a bit pointless. Get a Hope hub if you want splined sprockets.

  • [csb] Just span both the wheels off my cx bike in my hands, the front Hope hub is smooth as the day it left the factory, the rear Formula hub (which has far fewer miles on it) is rumbling and graunching like a good'un. Hope make good shit.[/csb]

  • Mother CYOA had a delivery I ordered from thedrinkshop.com today for when I get back on Saturday.

It contained three bottles of Johnnie Walker Black, Bitters, Maraschino Cherries, Oranges, Lemons, Sugar Cubes.

I'm back to work on Sunday night. #RaceAgainstTime

So bicycle insurance works completely differently to almost all other kinds of insurance?

When you lose your two year old Ipod, the insurers pay for you to buy a new ipod of close to equal spec....they don't give you the average ebay selling price of a two year old second hand ipod!

Hang on...I've never pissed around with old bikes. I could always just go get another Dolan Seta or Pinarello FP2 OTP...maybe thats the difference?

The insurer is there to make sure that you are not out of pocket. If you paid £1000 for a bike and it is nicked several years later, they'd cover the cost of £1000 to buy a similar or identical bike....surely?

EDIT: Just checked my policy and it says that they will replace new for old up to bike age of four years. I've never owned a bike for that long and probably never will...probably why I assumed it always worked that way. Thats a bit crap for those with nice classic frames isn't it?

  • Bike insurance works like it does with a car. If the car is written off then it's value is determined on what you may be able to sell it for. I know a few people where then insurance has asked for examples to prove that said car is being sold for the price you've valued it at.

My car is only worth £500 at a push, but to replace it would cost me something in the region of £18,000

  • I get it.

Apart from the limited new for old clause that I have on my policy, that makes sense. I suppose not all policies have that.

Does anybody know an insurer that would insure my custom Dolan? I've tried two places and they got arsey because it hasn't got a frame number.

    Halo or Surly!

  • What's that online mob called? Velo-something? I bought a CNC steel one from there and it's still alive.

  • Velosolo

Also, aren't Andel and Surly the same?

  • Velo Solo?
