  • ^^Acid! try and time it so that you are coming up at present opening time. You may need to warn people that you will be feeling "under the weather" so that they don't expect you to actually do anything.

  • do I have to fork out £16 for these

No, fork out £8 for these

  • So again, has anyone got any technical drawings for a low flange front hub? I haz spare ti, will maybe make spare for friendly supplier of drawings??

Make a bottom bracket and spindles for pedals.

  • Make a headset.

  • My tyre was rubbing against the chainstay and got rather hot and swollen. The sidewall was bulging by 2-3cm where it was scuffing but reverted back to shape once it cooled down.

I've taken the tyre off and the rubber around the beading is peeling away. Question is: have I proper knacked the tyre? And, if is is knackered, is it safe to get me home tonight (10miles)?

  • If you take the ride easy itll probably be fine, if it fails it shouldnt be too different to getting a flat tyre, no big deal. I would get it swapped out though asap

    Thanks.

    This should be interesting.

  • Grade 2, 2" bar about 12" of it. Ally is much easier to mass produce and is similar in weight, I'd just like to make myself some bombproof hubs, I have access to the necessary machines and equipment so why not give it a try? I thought someone on here may have mic'd up there own hub and have sizes etc I don't have any spare good quality hubs lying around and I need all the interior sizes? Any help would be much appreciated, and still possibly rewarded?

    Cheers

  • Bottom bracket axle is a real nice idea though!

  • HDD on a 13" macbook pro unibody (mid 2009) is failing.

Takes 10 minutes to boot to OSX. Want to replace it with a solid state drive but can't afford to be without it at the moment so I want to walk into a shop somewhere in central or south west london tomorrow, pick up a drive, then I'll install it myself on Saturday.

Currently the traditional drive I have is 250GB - which I've partioned with bootcamp so I can actually send an email in less than 15 minutes from switching on.

256GB solid state suits me just fine, but to be honest 120GB would be just fine for this.

    Brands? Retailers? Costs?

The intel X25-M - 256GB looks lovely but I don't want to spend more than the entire laptop is worth on a drive.

Also, will I need anything specific to fit an SSD drive or do they fit to the same connections as the current one?

  • What is my gran talking about?

  • I'd just like to make myself some bombproof hubs

If you make the hubs bombproof, your wheels will constantly be breaking. The spoke bend relies for its reliability on the soft hub flange yielding to the hard spoke to provide uniform support. If you make the flange from a very hard material, you just put a big stress raiser in the most vulnerable part of the wheel, the spoke bend.

  • What is my gran talking about?
Probably solid state drives for laptops.

    Probably.

  • I thought someone on here may have mic'd up there own hub and have sizes

I've got a Sora hub shell you can have for nothing + P&P, you could just copy that and change the bores where the bearing cups are inserted to suit your choice of cartridge bearing.

  • Probably solid state drives for laptops.

    Probably.

    Close. The war and incontinence.

  • I've heard rumourz, which I thought came from Zipp. IMO fucking about with the colour of the spokes must have a detrimental effect... but, it's probably so small that it actually has no real life effect. The main drawback on a 32h+ build is the price.

Again imo, black hubs and spokes will look better on black OP's rather than grey ones. A friend has black hubs, spokes, and OP's, but with silver nipples. It looks good, because the nipples complement the silver machined sidewalls of the black OP's, and balance it out...

    like this:

With your build looking a bit like this: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a71/hubert_/bicycles/sevenopenpros.jpg

...altho as the looks starts to drift towards being slightly more modern I'd favour CXP33's for the slight aero look.

Hope that made your decision easier ;)

What about finding a bored student with photoshop skillz to make up multiple versions of your build?

Thanks mate looks great. Still not decided might go with 105 on OP yet, they seem good for year round running in all weather.

  • Maximum heart rate- if I apply 5 second smoothing to the trace then I get 190bpm, if I pull the smoothing back to 1 second then I hit 200 bpm (very briefly).

Which of the two figures is my maximum heart rate for calculation purposes?

I think it should be the 190, as I've sustained that, but I don't really know.

  • I don't think you can go from 190 to 200 in a second, so the spike is a data acquisition artefact. Either that or Arrhythmia.

  • If I pull the smoothing back it climbs and falls, 190/193/200/194/190- but thats it.

Another point on the plot goes to 192 for a couple of seconds, but again it's not sustained.

    Highest previously recorded was 186.

  • does anyone know if there is bike parking on any platform at Tottenham Hale Rail Station?

According to TFL the is bike parking, but it doesn't specify if that's in or outside the station. I want to leave my non-descript bike there for four days with some amazing locks, anyone know if that would be ludicrous?

Just emailled you a screen grab of the bike parking at TH. Its right in front of the main doors to the station next to the taxi rank by the looks of it. As far as bike parking goes, it could be a lot worse... Maybe take your saddle and seatpost with you if you are really worried?

  • ^^ Neil, I try not to think about it too much. I test mine by throwing myself up Ditchling on a decent ratio and take my Garmin figure for max HR. Always seems to be 196 or 197 for me. Very consistent.

  • Made it home in one piece - thanks Hovis! Time to ask Santa for a new tyre...

It'll be the same SATA connections so you'll only need the tools to open your mac up. I'd have a look on overclockers.co.uk read the reviews and make your choice, also look at the weekly deals. another alternative is to look on by direct from crucial

  • Is using CV joint grease in wheel hubs better than using grease for a grease gun?
