  • If your LBS are using Bontrager kit then they must be cunts.

  • I actually have 2 lbs that i use, one i buy kit from and one i get repairs at.

  • If your LBS are using Bontrager kit then they must be cunts.

    ha!
the bontrager charger pumps are actually very good.

  • joe blow sprint, and the indicator is near the top of the pump

  • The Bontrager one survived more than the Joe Blow one at our shop as well despite feeling a lots more flimsy...

(and the Rennkompressor aren't very popular).

  • I'm fed up of dual heads, mines failed atm and the air comes out of the other hole. One of my reasons for going with the bontranger, the air has no where to go

  • the only problem with the bontrager is that it doesn't have a clear instruction on how to change value...

Got too many customer demanding refund until I show them how to change the value.

  • how to change the valve?
with the one that i use, you just whack it onto either presta or schraeder and it works.

  • I've used all three (the sport, the comp and the pro) of the specialized air tool pumps and liked all three. My LBS has the pro and it feels bomb proof. Also the valve is great, just whack it on whether it's Schrader or Presta.

  • i upgraded to the joe blow smart head

    does either schrader or presta

  • Make sure you get it with this connector:

    ftfy

  • ^varno does £25 copies of them

  • ^varno does £25 copies of them

Which are cosmetically and functionally inferior, but good enough.

  • My Silca Super Pista is still going as good as ever.

The Lezeyne pumps are really good too, or at least the mini pump is great (so many mini pumps are shit) and the track pump I bought for the office has been good too.

Don't buy a Park Tools track pump. Mine exploded after 3 months.

  • Can we still talk about non bike stuff here? Good.
Are slippers an appropriate Christmas present for the mother of my bestest for lyfe and whatever male friend? Especially when I'm only getting him a vinyl and a DVD? He seems bent on getting my dad much more expensive gifts but then he has a real job...

  • Non bike stuff? Like the DIY that are scattered through the history of the thread...

  • Actually, what about Mack hubs?

    http://www.mackhubs.com/

    Their low flange fixed only weight 190g;

    Flange diameter – 51 mm

Cheers Ed, one more good option to consider.

I don't know about your mo and bro in law but I'd murder for a decent pair of slippers. ..

  • I too would love to have a great pair of slipper.

How awesome would it be to get merino wool slipper?

  • Rapha for 2012?

  • My lbs advised me away from lezyne, they went through 2 in their workshop whilst the bontrager is still going strong

If your LBS are using Bontrager kit then they must be cunts.

    Is your LBS Efans?

  • The Lezyne track pump I bought looks nice and things but it is a consumer model. The Silva Superpista feels like it was made for constant use at a velodrome. All the parts are replaceable and it's basic and tough.

I'll stop going on about track pumps now if you like...

  • Go for a joe blow. Mines been solid for the last 2 years. The head means I can do presta and schrader. Feels well made too.

  • I had a £10 P-X that's been working for almost 6 years so something that has worked for 2 years isn't the best of reviews. I have a 15 yo Silca in Australia for example.

I'm unsure whether to buy an expensive one in the hope it will last a long time or just get a £20 one that will still do me for 5 years or so.

Tester, what's special about those heads? Not riding track so don't need 200psi or anything. Accuracy would be nice but I'm very lax when it comes to keeping pressures up anyway.

I'd rather not have any plastic parts as they tend to break and user-serviceable with spares available appeals to my sensibilities. :)

  • £38 Silca, I could get one of these and have spares in two countries :)
