You mean that Internet TV thing?
nah, that all works fine, I basically want to use the telly as a laptop monitor wirelessly.
-
• #21853
Where's the point? You can as well stream from a laptop directly to a telly/monitor - either through a wi-fi, ethernet or vga.
-
• #21854
Does it have a VGA input? Blue plug, 15 pin
Yes it's got one of those but I wanted to avoid wires
-
• #21855
Can't help you, because don't know the model. You'd have to check the menus and see if you can stream.

• #21856
Eh? Why?

How? That's what I wanted to know

To know if you can. My telly doesn't have wi-fi. My dad's have.

Eh? Why?
So when Saints are on Sky I can receive it through the laptop and watch it on telly without trailing a cable across the floor

EEI I didn't see your post, should have had a ^^ there
I see. So you want to use the laptop as a laptop, then have the TV streaming from the laptop at the same time?
-
• #21861
Bang on, that's it.

I'm doing this for living (well, I was before I was made redundant), but we always used VGAs linked with DAs. We're old school.
What telly do you have exactly, bombcup?

I know the mac versions but pc I'm stuck and it's what I'm stuck with now :(
Slap the next fan boy that mentions fruit.
Where are you in London? Or shall we go to PM's?

I can't find - does it have wi-fi built in? Can you connect it to your home network?

9/12 or the battle known as 2011 Tag Wars

Yes it has built in wifi, I've got it all connected to the home network but it seems limited to the built-in functions on the menu - iplayer et al, youtube, skype and an unusable web browser.
Looking into it, it seems intel have launched a piece of kit to enable a laptop to stream its display to a TV but you need a laptop with the hardware built in and a dongle for the TV, so having a wifi TV is irrelevant. I don't think I'm going to be able to do what I'm after, I'll try a VGA lead, then, as this laptop is not long for this world, I'll get a machine with HDMI out.

I've tried to find a manual here to no avail.
-
• #21873
I'm rather touched. Thanks for looking :)
I bought the telly today so I've not lost the manual yet. There's no mention other than the VGA cable.

I've just cleared out my filing cabinet of all the documents I don't need anymore. They're now sitting in a Sainsburys bag. It strikes me that this is a dangerous thing to throw out. Does anyone have a shredder I can borrow?
Does it have a VGA input? Blue plug, 15 pin. Or if your laptop has a HDMI output does your TV have a HDMI input?
