  • where can I go to buy some nice road wheels tomorrow? Condor don't list any on their website nor to Mosquito, I don't like shopping at Evans but I think I might have to.

  • what wheels do you want?

it may make answering your question easier

and watch out, scoot is on this thread right now - your shopping trip has been busted

  • Having ridden toeclips for the last 10 years or so, if I make the move to SPDs am I still going to 'forget to unclip' and stack it at the lights?

Nah I'd been using clips or straps for 3 years and went clipless a few months ago and haven't stacked it once yet. You get used to them really quickly. The first few weeks I was slowing down three times earlier to give myself loads of time to unclip but now it's become second nature.

    she already knows.
I think I want fulcram's or maybe some Rolf's. Not too sure really. 1500g or less clincher, all black, shimano/sram cassette.

  • What is your price range?

  • I was thinking >£600 but can go over for the right ones. I'm getting impatient so hopefully can finish my carbon bike tomorrow or the day after and sell on my Ksyrium SL's to make back some of the money.

  • @sumo - Sigma Sport in Kingston.

  • has anyone used oxy-propane setups for brazing bike frames successfully?

obviously it's not as efficient as acetylene but to be honest if i can avoid cylinder rental, increased house insurance and a big bottle of acet lying about my house then i will.

  • andy p, thanks, I might be able to swing a discount too cos we've got one of their bikes in the window and I gave them loads of food after the tour of britain.

  • Does anyone know of a secure locking spot in Brixton?

There's a prison which is quite effective.

  • Does anyone know anyone who has a flat in manchester available for rent for 4 days in December for a reasonable rate?

  • Anyone seen an awesome, scarcely believable deal on a 31.6mm Thomson seatpost, black, 367mm length?

  • anyone know a brick and mortar shop that stocks Sram S40 wheels?

  • They are 1.8kg Henry

  • I just read that. Fuck.
Racing 1's or S30's it is then.

  • They are 1.8kg Henry

I was assuming he'd seen sense. S40 will be faster than any sub-1500g clincher under about £2000

I have one of those beasts, quite heavly scratched for the bottom 180mm, drop me a pm as long as it is not for photos, I don't have a camera, you are welcome to view at the regent

Cheers. Next question then, what pedals are easy to use/cheapish? Some Shimanos? Does price really make a difference for them?

1,452g, £399, however they are tubs

    Should be fast though.

  • Some Shimanos? Does price really make a difference for them?

Yes to Shimano, and yes price does make a difference, but £80 pedals are nowhere near twice as good as £40 pedals. Bog standard PD-M520 are already 90% as good as Shimano know how to make a pedal.

Cheers mate. I feel like a dick asking the question seeing as there's obviously enough threads on here already.

Still heavy though, thinking about it.

  • they are tubs

    And therefore irrelevant.

Zipp 303 Firecrest is the only sensible choice if you want a 1500g clincher that's not going to be a lot slower than a 2kg aero wheel, but they won't be in the shops yet as they were only launched at the beginning of this month. Also a smidgen over budget, but you can't have everything.

What sort of road do you have that needs wheels?
