Does anybody know of a large warehouse space, that could be used for filming that we could use for the day for free. I'm helping put together a short film and we need a back up inside space preferably lagre open spaced with a lot of natural light. Any ideas would be really aprreciated.

Also, does anyone have contacts with any british woodlands or parks? and would they be able to let us film there for free to make a short art film?

Would I be able to fit 42c tyres to Boardman CX team? or even 45s?

• #19507
You want 2" tyres on your CX bike? Whai?
-
• #19508
I doubt it, and you wouldn't want to unless you're going to change the rims too.

Would upgrading from 3 to 4gb of ram be a noticeable upgrade or a waste of money?
Pretty sure 4 is the most my laptop will take
-
• #19510
are you using XP? are you maxing out your ram?

Well the clearances look pretty huge... wanted to try it with bigger tyres as my wrists have been taking a beating lately, getting some gel bits for the bars, but fancy trying some proper off roading on it... the rims are already pretty wide anyway reckon they'll "take the girth" ...

Hmm, 40c tyres and 45psi should see you for some fun, not big rough stuff but enough to be called XC

Well the clearances look pretty huge.
The clearances are huge for a reason if you're thinking of going anywhere with mud, you should leave about 10mm radially and 5mm axially or you'll find lumps of scenery trying to stop your wheels from going round. If you fill up what looks like a load of free space under the fork crown with tyre, you'll severely limit your off road options. If you want more volume, get wider rims - they will increase your current tyre width a bit while slightly decreasing the diameter, so clearances stay about as they are, but your tyre volume goes up, your contact patch gets wider and shorter for better handling, and your rolling resistance can be maintained at its current value with lower pressure, meaning more comfort and better grip.
If you really must get bigger rubber, measure the clearance between the chainstays, as that's usually the limiting factor.

Sort of what I was thinking, maybe more like 50-55 psi though at my weight.
Don't want to do anything too muddy, got a mtb for that (: just want to fly around on some twisty rocky rooty stuff and surprise some overequipped mountain bikers...

I found it even more satisfactory to catch people up while on my freeride bike while they're 'flying along' on their carbon 29ers.

I've bought this frame from Tel
and I have some scuffed Cinelli bars and and stemWhat sort of gear would it have had on it in its day?
I want to build it up a single speed but wouldn't mind using the sort of bits and pieces it had before.
The last one I had which had the same paint job had a Sachs New Success groupset on it (as did one that Erik was selling iirc). If you went for Campag then 1st gen Athena or Chorus would be right Shimano would be 600 Ultegra (6400) or Dura Ace 7400 series.
Looking forward to seeing it built. Any help or advice please feel free to contact me directly.

I vote for DA 7400 with downtube shifters, as the brake levers from that groupset are a personal favourite.

Windows 7 Professional, not sure what you mean about maxing out?
Laptop does feel groggy but i'm not exactly sure it's ram that's bottlenecking
-
• #19519
By maxing out, I mean using all your ram. When that happens, windows starts writing sections of ram to your hard disk. (Which slows everything down massively). Are you getting a lot of un-explained hard disk activity?
You can check to see how much ram you are using via ctrl-alt-del > task manager.
An SSD will give you a huge performance increase, where as more ram will just stop your computer slowing down when you have a lot of programs open.

If it's not 64 bit it won't support more than 3-4gb.
In terms of write/ load speed you'd see more of an increase from an SSD as a boot disc. Then put your HDD in a caddy and use it for storage.

Sort of Yas, I did one for a Met Police disciplinary hearing and one for an immigration case in Canada. Might be similar? Not sure...

Why do you feel cold when tired? I'm freezing and the only thing I can put it down to is tiredness.
-
• #19525
I've often wondered the same. A quick google of "Why do people feel cold when tired" threw this up
http://www.boston.com/news/health/articles/2010/02/15/why_people_feel_cold_when_theyre_tired/
Don't know whether it is bollocks or not though.
