anyone know of a decent suit bag for carrying on the bike? I have seen one (Slicks?) but wondered if there were more or if anyone knew of an alternative method.

A friend got a quite "vintage" titanium Merlin mountain bike with the old "elastomer" suspension fork (I've no idea what I'm talking about here). He would like to replace the fork with a rigid carbon fork. A 26", 1" steerer (preferably threaded) carbon fork, with canti bosses, and long enough to compensate for the suspension system : does such a thing exists ? Or a steel one ? Any idea/source ?

Yes, Pace do a good 1" threaded carbon suspension corrected fork iirc.
You need to find out how much suspension you're correcting. No point replacing a 3" suspension fork with a suspension corrected 6" ridgid

You don't really need to leave the UK for that though.
For the sake of your safety, new fork, carbon (as well as alu) are unpredictable, so if you have the slightest doubt - replace it.
