  • Is there a geared equivalent to a pompino?

    Like this?

  • ^^^ And Jessie j at no.4 after only 4months? Surely there are other pop songs with more hits.
The vid at no.19 looks good though

^ It'd be good if they did that with sliding dropouts. The pompetamine is good with the disc mount slots, but I'd rather having to set up the brake just the once and moving the dropouts.

  • the Long Haul Trucker is close or maybe the cross check

they a fair bit more expensive though...

    Like this?

Yeap like that, shame about the colourscheme but reckon when the time comes will get one of these.

  • Frankly, the colourscheme is a bit better than the last one.

  • Does anybody know of a free online video editing thing -
    like a browser-based-iMovie?
Need to trim a .mov, maybe fade audio in / out.

  • Is there a geared equivalent to a pompino?

    They sold geared ones.

If you try google "free online video editing software" its a good place to start...

  • long shot, but I read an article a month or two ago about a scandinavian bank (i don't remember which country) that keeps a tight cap on CEO:lowest paid employee salary ratio and weathered the financial crisis easily as it was not particularly leveraged.

does anyone know which bank this is / have an article or more info on it?

    Thanks

  • is there a general thread about bike lanes/road design? as opposed to specific ones like blackfriars bridge?

i UTFS with "bike lane" didn't get anything relevant. thanks

There isn't, no. You can always join the LCC and discuss that sort of stuff to your heart's content in the CPEC (Cycle Planning and Engineering Committee). Ask me how to get onto it if you need to.

As per missmouse's post a few days ago ...

I want to know why their aren't more discussions on this forum about politics, council policies, planning applications, TfL, the GLA etc. which affect all of us cyclists?

It seems a few campaign threads have started over the years but not really taken off. As DJ pointed out to me, even the rider down threads are far less prolifically posted on than they used to be.

Is this apathy? The belief that this isn't the place for it? Or something else?

As the coordinator of an extremely lively and opinionated campaign group as well as a fairly active (OK, addicted) member of this forum, I find myself perplexed by how different the two groups seem - even though we all share exactly the same streets, put up with the same dangers, pay the same taxes and use our legs to get us around.

Such topics aren't hugely popular on here. The difference between the 'groups' to my mind is different strengths and weaknesses in each. There are great things that go on around the forum that just don't happen in the LCC, and vice versa, but no group can do everything. I for one wouldn't want to miss out on either of them. Yes, as far as gathering political clout is concerned, ideally, we'd all be part of just one organisation, but not everybody wants to be a political campaigner, or even support political campaigns. There is also a place for diversity, and both the LCC and the forum have developed their very own identities. So, if you want to discuss street design, the best place to do that in London is probably LCC CPEC. If you want to discuss home DIY and hipsters, stay right here. :)

No idea, but pretty sure it's not in Iceland.

  • So- I hired a van this weekend, and when going through the pickup, the guy misplaced a dent (as in marked it forward of the wheel rather than rearward of the wheel where it is) on the inspection sheet.
Do I tell them when I return it tmw or say nothing unless its brought up by them?

They're a good company, who I will be using again.

  • So does that mean tell them upfront?

Its not like a pristine van, some fuckers have been abusing the shite out of it for sure.

And I was the one to point it out in the first place, the guy kinda glossed over it.

thanks Oliver but i'm not sure i could handle the excitement. basically i took some photos of some very stupid cycle lanes near my flat. i'll post them in the Epic Fail thread.

  • Is there anyone who sells a Dia Compe clamp on front brake for less then £49.95?

Or something similar that does the job, drilling the forks is not an option.

  • They sold geared ones.

Past tense. The current version of the frame is 120mm OLN

  • Scalemaster megnetic speedfit scale inhibitor.

firstly i dont understand magnets so i probably have nooooo hope of fixing this, but the one that is on the pipe going into my boiler has sprung a leak, its only a small crack, but its dripping.

i've managed to remove the panel which goes into the boiler (yay me) and discovered this but th user manual on the companies website gives no clue about how it might be fitted, or how to fix it, does anyone know such things?

  • Scrap that found it has a 'slip coupling' (not a euph apparently) which the internetz suggests I might be able to replace myself if I stop the water.

    Phew!

    Thanks for your help internetz.

When renting vehicles I now shoot video on my phone at the pick up just in case something like this happens. Last time I lost my copy of the paperwork and they lost theirs so was invaluable as car was already damaged when picked up.
