I want to learn Swedish from scratch, and would like to become at least casually conversant eventually. Can anyone recommend any good (and hopefully free/very cheap) online language courses. I was looking at rosetta stone and others but they cost hundreds, even for the basic level. I'd have thought that somewhere there would be a great open source language resource but I don't know where to look.
Oh, and I recently acquired a kindle so if it worked on that then that would be ace but not vital.
i need to do this too so if you come across any info please let me know.
Nothing useful yet. If you look in the podcast section of the itunes store Radio Lingua Network do a 10 episode "1minute Swedish" series which is pretty pointless but good to get the first few words and used to hearing the sounds. One issue I had was with pronunciation - when someone just gives you a phrase and you repeat it it, it is hard to break it down and get a proper grip on what is going on eg. what the individual words in the phrase mean. I also signed up for the swedishpod101 and they deal with this a bit better but their podcasts are all mixed up with advanced lessons in amongst beginner ones, they promise lots of free additional materials if I signed up to their website but so far all I can see is spam.

from http://www.lfgss.com/thread43197.html
i had read the sram manual and saw that there were no shims, but then keep reading users who mention theirs came with shims or that they have used shims
http://mikesimagination.wordpress.com/desalvo-titanium-fixed-gear-review/
i posted on his blog today and he assured me he has actually tried a few different spacers on his BB to move the chain line around a little
it does not appear to be like the Shimano external bb cranks with the little clip part, to retain hold the cranks at a specific distance, clearly you could not shim the Shimano cranks in or out but it appears there is a little play with the Sram ones
James I prob still have the official SRAM ones you can have?

I may have some SRAM spacers too, although I'm guessing the Chris King one(s) may be more useful if they're 1mm, as I think that the SRAM ones are more like 2.5mm each (although I could be confusing them with Shimano MTB ones - they are not very memorable).

i wont get CK spacers for the moment, will get a CK bb once the sram one wears out, as at least the CK one is serviceable.

I need a new BB. If i haz Miche Primato Cranks and BB can i assume it will be a 107mm axle or do i have to remove the cranks and check? Also will my shimano BB tool work with it?
bumping my own question....sorry

Why do my arms itch after a shower?
srs question? probably dry skin. use less soap / less harsh soap / start moisturising after washing.

@OmarLittle - the Miche BB requires the Campag tool so your Shimano one won't fit.
As for the axle length, I think Miche only do a 107 mm axle length so I think it's safe to assume that's what you'll need to replace it. Be careful when buying a new one as you'll need an BB with ISO taper and not a JIS one (which rules out most Shimano ones).

Is there a thread on weekend getaways? I want recommendations on somewhere to get out of London for the weekend, but I don't want to start a new thread to ask.

You might want to ask around before you do. They don't have the best of reputations for longevity.

I need setback in my seatpost.
Thomson do 16mm and 7 deg setback right? Which is more?

Thomson do either an inline or setback seatpost. AFAIK there are not two types of setback seatposts from them. Inline tends to be an MTB post. The setback actually puts the clamp in a similar position to most conventional seatposts where the clamp is slightly behind as opposed to being directly above the seatpost tube itself.

Does anyone know anything about a French bicycle manufacturer called Rota from Lyon?
Thanks. -

Ah, that old chestnut. Ask around, I think people are happily using Shimano BB-UN54 107mm JIS with Miche cranks. The suspicion is that when Miche changed their spec from 110mm to 107mm, it was simply to accommodate a change of axle supplier from European made ISO axles to Far Eastern made JIS axles

those crystemblue stems are difficult to get hold of. After some searching a found a reasonably (bearably) attractive deda mutant (or murex, I am not sure from the pictures) at condor for about £20.
They didn't have it in store but had them in the warehouse.

Are there any nice front loading quill stems?
Not really. Crystemblue and Frog are the most stylish, various MTB style welded jobs from ITM, Salsa, Profile etc are ugly but effective.

Whilst perusing through Velo Solo looking for some brake cables I saw this. Not bad for £26.45 posted if you want an understated front loading quill stem, non?
