  • Can you not connect to the Dongle via the medium of WiFI Rob?

  • There's that Volvo again

    Support vehicle.

  • I still want to use the dingle so can't cut the sim down to hodge into the iPad. I have a decent monthly allowance for Internet but can't get it unless the supplier can give a vat receipt. I might have to go into the shop and face sales talk!

I cut it down in the way I was able to put it back together with some sellotape.

As for the tariffs, can't help you at the moment, as it all changed since the last time I did the research.

  • Can you not connect to the Dongle via the medium of WiFI Rob?

Sure he can. Something like Mi-Fi would work.

  • What is a decent PAYG sim for Ipad 3g?

Bearing in mind I have to get a receipt for top up so I can claim back through work.

Currently using a T-mobile dongle which I sporadically top up for internet when traveling, essentially I want the same thing for the ipad except it doesn't seem to be a simple search!

I have a 3G dongle which I pay for but never use- you are welcome to that if you want?

    5 Gig transfer limit.

You can come and do £20 worth of tiling per month for it.

  • also http://www.framefactoryten.co.uk/index.html across the road from Belsize Park tube, very agreeable, may have a readymade in the right size, call them.

I clicked this expecting them to make bike frames. :)

  • Can you not connect to the Dongle via the medium of WiFI Rob?

    The dongle is USB

  • I have a MiFi type dongle that you can borrow:

Which would be the easiest solution maybe?

  • So what you're saying is I needn't have spent out on a wifi and 3G iPad? I could put my tmobile sim in a mi fi dongle and use it for both laptop and iPad?

  • Yep, although having 3G in the iPad is much more convenient.

But the general idea of the MiFi dongle is that you have a variety of gadgets all connecting via it.

  • Oh yeah, I remember doing some homework on this now, I'm not a complete cunt thankfully. I didn't want the hassle of charging/remembering/carrying another device.

The set up I have with t mobile is ideal, it's a pita to have to physically materialise in the phone shop every time I want to top up and ask for a vat receipt which usually throws them a bit, but it's the only way work will pay. Might attempt to cut the SIM what's the worst that can happen?

  • Can you get deep carbon, with 5 carbon spokes instead of regular spokes?

    Of course:

  • I have some Time ATAC cleats that dont have the normal L/G and R/D marking on them
one of them have two little starts on it, the other nothing.
I have look around, and the only referenced about it, is on this thread

could anyone that know confirm that the little starts are the left foot???

  • little starts?

on mine on the back of them, between the holes are little round markings - the left has a row of 5 and 2, the right has a single row of 4.

    ie.
    L
    .....
    ..

    R
    ....

  • little starts?

  • oh, in that case, yes. stars on the left.

  • and starts, towards the heel or the toes???

  • could anyone that know confirm that the little starts are the left foot???
Do you mean on the back of them - the surface that will be hidden by the shoe? An old set I've got has two dimples on the back of the left cleat and seven on the back of the right.

The easiest way to tell left from right is to place the cleats the correct way up on a table (as if you are looking down on them through your shoes). Place your left hand flat on the table next to them. The cleat with the tang in the same direction as your left thumb is the left cleat. I's put a photo up but the other half is away with the camera at the moment.

Now seen your photo. The one one the right is the RH cleat and is the incorrect way around. The one on the left is the LH cleat and is the right way around.

  • Rik, just checked my shoes. The one with the stars is on the left shoe, with the stars towards the front of the shoe.

  • So what you're saying is I needn't have spent out on a wifi and 3G iPad? I could put my tmobile sim in a mi fi dongle and use it for both laptop and iPad?

Yep, you can buy unlocked wi-fi dongles on eBay for hundred something pounds.

Doesn't it depend which foot you unclip first?

  • no, it depends how much resistance to you unclipping you want. Each cleat can go on either shoe, but they way I understand it is everyone puts them how I have.

  • That is what I meant. Usually I'd like more float on the foot I leave on the pedal while stationary. With pedals I have at the moment there's choice of either 5° or 25° float. Other pedals don't have much float, but differ in resistance (what you said), so it all down to personal preferences.

  • but you have to swop the cleats around to get the variation, so you can't have different between left and right...
