What was that helicopter over SE / E doing last night.
It. Would. Not. Shut. Up.
Late at night i think they are meant to switch off the engine when stationary so as to not keep anyone up.

Which council ward are you in? Do they have an online pest control reporter?
Are you inadvertently feeding them? I'm sure your world is clean and tidy but we were baffled by a sudden infestation earlier in the month until we realised that we had several bags of bird food under the sink which they were having a proper party with.
Have you mentioned it to your neighbours? Are they inadvertently feeding them?
Have you found how they're accessing your place? If you're in a flat they may be coming through the buildings drain stacks. Your builder may not have drilled a small enough hole for your waste pipes. Stuff wire wool in these gaps. Mice think wire wool is kryptonite.

I'm in Lambeth. All this is true and possible. I feel I've exhausted all the things I can feesibly do, beyond gutting the place, And now they're in my room I just want rid quickly and guaranteed (as impossible as that might be).

Pest control dude at my place was mostly interested in poos. He wanted access to areas under kitchen units etc to see how much pooage there was. From that he could assess where they were hanging out and how many there were (not many in our case luckily).

Yeah I've tried to contact them. I spoke to them last year and they seemed pretty disorganised

Anyone know of a good mouse control company/person for a reasonable (~£100) price? I've tried contacting the council but they haven't got back to my email, nor picked up the phone.
The only way of doing it is to have someone do a proper job of sealing all the holes--mice are fairly easy to seal out. Do a thorough job once and it'll take a long time for them to reappear. All that pest control people will do is to lay poison, come back to check it, and declare the mice dead if they've touched the poison, only for the vermin (I mean the mice) to appear again in short order. (Disclaimer: I'm sure that pest control people sometimes do more, but I had them around at various times over the years and their work never did any good. I'm speaking strictly from that limited experience.)
They're also a good sign, in a way, as their presence means that you don't have rats. :)

It's only going to get worse apparently. Cut backs mean that council run pest controllers are being reduced / fazed out. It's all getting a bit 1977.

I reckon it's pest control coming into its own.

Do you stand by the veracity of this statement, Mr Schick?
We had both last year.

Ah, well, you know, Andy, there are always exceptions. :)

OK so a mate needs some dirty cheap slicks for 26" wheels (about a 23mm wide mtb rim), found these on wiggle... but they are described as 'imperial' sizing. Last time I checked 26" was 26" but then seen as 700c is actually a smaller diameter rim than 630c (27") then I'm not counting on them being 'the job'.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-marathon-kevlar-old-tread-mtb-tyres/
Please be aware that tyres marked with a fraction in the sizing is generally classified as "Imperial" (26 x 1 1/2"), whilst tyres marked with a decimal in the sizing is classified as a "Decimal - standard nowadays" (26 x 1.5). Imperial tyres are not the same size as Decimal tyres (roughly 1 inch difference) so please be aware of this when choosing your selection.
and the wiggle item in question calls itself..
Black26 x 1 3 / 8" Imperial
Sheldon made too many words, I understand not this imperial vs. imperial sizing malarky.

any 26" tyre with a fraction won't fit a standard MTB rim. you need the decimals ie. 26 x 1.5". but on that wiggle page they're all sold out anyway?

You'd be amazed at how small a hole a mouse can get through- at quite high speed.
When I worked in the All Bar One on Regent Street the mice could jump through the air bricks in order to travel from room to room, with no appreciable drop in pace.
They may not look like it, but they can happily go through a hole the diameter of a standard biro.

Anyone know what the music is on this clip? Worth watching even if you don't know.

Fun fact: This is where the Epitaph record label got their name from. Greg Graffin was a big King Crimson geek.
Okay, not fun or useful, but it is a fact.

That's absolutely right--I have seen them go through such holes!
For commercial premises or a whole house, it'll be very difficult to make it mouse-proof, but a flat should be possible.

is 23mm inside or outside diameter? You probably need 26 x 1.5 ( or 1.75 or 2") - between 32 and 40mm
