I need to change the gear on my track bike. Turns out my chain is too short.
My questions is how long can you use a chain for before it is better to replace the chain than to add in a couple of the original links?
This chain has only been used 1-2 times a week at the track for a few months. No sign of wear i.e. not at .75 on a gauge.

Anyone I know has a dremel tool (Dremel 800)?
Mine stopped working and I need to find out what's wrong - either the charger or the battery, as it doesn't charge.

That makes sense, the pain with the tool is that it isn't a complete circle like others I've seen so it tends to slip easier
Get (or at least borrow) a proper tool with a square drive
Doesn't matter if it's Shimano HTII, SRAM/Truvativ GXP or Campag UT, they all use the same spline pattern. -

This is the one I bought - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tool-Lifu-Shimano-Hollowtech-2-Bottom-Bracket-Tool-11F3-/300505640348?pt=UK_Spots_Leisure_Cycling_Tools_RepairKits&hash=item45f7882d9c
Does the BB and the crank tensioner

Chains are cheap, pulling a rejoined chain apart with your starting effort has the potential to be expensive. Pushing a rivet back through the plate makes a very weak joint compared with the factory process. Just buy another chain and keep a long one and a short one available for any future gear changes. Or buy an extra master link to suit your chain.

I am fairly sure that when my Mrs and I bought a place a couple of years ago, we were not told some things about the flat. Does anyone know where I can get some cheap legal advice about such things, or is there a lawyer on the forum who would be kind enough to give me a small amount of advice for beer or similar re numeration? Sorry if this is a bit cheeky.

What kind of things? Did you get your own survey done?
-
• #13586
Yeah we got survey done, basically it's a new development (well 6 years old) and as part of the planning permission no residents are allowed to apply for a parking permit! We were never told this now 2 years after moving in we tried to apply for one and were flatly refused, the council told us in no uncertain terms that it was the freeholders' responsibility to point this out to us before contracts were exchanged, we were never told.

Planning covenants should have come up in the title search, so if you're looking to sue somebody it should probably be your conveyancing solicitor rather than the freeholder who sold you the lease*.

I don't even want to sue anyone, there is a car park as part of the development (with unused/unlet spaces) but for some reason the freeholders' won't allow any new applications for them. My reasoning is that because we weren't told a pretty vital piece of information they should assign a space to us I would be happy to pay the standard rent for it (£50 pcm), however they won't have a bar. To me this seems like the most common sense solution, and I'm getting frustrated, especially as the people who deal with us on the freeholder's behalf are inept beyond words.
