Great to deal with, although it has been a while.

  • Just go for the cheapest hire car company, they are all much of a muchness.

Bear in mind that it's the London to Brighton this weekend which will mean rolling road closures in Sussex, which might affect you.

  • As a mod to you not get use of the company Saab?

Forgot about that. The majority of the 24 course is either side of the L2B route so it should be ok. I might change my plan to Fri night instead though to avoid the gettting out of London bit.

  • do seagulls get seasick?

No, they just poo more. Mostly on my car.

I looked up aimlessly the other day, whilst walking along, and happened to glimpse a seagull just as it shat everywhere mid flight.

    true story, and a highlight

  • I have a domain name

    I have a Cargo website

How do I make my domain name redirect straight to my Cargo site?

  • Anything I should be wary of when hiring a car? I want to pick one up (or have one dropped off) from around Ealing for the weekend. Probably get as much insurance as I can and a gps - any companies to go for or avoid?

I'm going to try and ride some of the 24hr course in Sussex. I assume it'll be quite a few country lanes - can I just park on the side of the road somewhere with my food and stuff left in the car or will parking on the verge get me towed?

What car do you want to rent?
I can lend you my Zed, if you can cope with left hand drive.

    http://support.cargocollective.com/discussion/7294/setting-up-a-custom-url

  • I read that and it didn't make any sense to me. And to get a custom URL through cargo you have to pay anyway so I'm just doing it through my domain host.

Unfortunately my domain host is one.com and most of its website doesn't work.

  • I read that and it didn't make any sense to me.

It made sense to me. You need to modify the name server records at your domain's registrar to point your domain name to your Cargo server's IP address. How hard or easy that is depends on your registrar, so if you can't work it out from their control panel, you'll need to ask them. Some don't allow it, in which case you need a new registrar.

  • Well yeah, it makes sense IN THEORY, but nowhere on my domain control panel does it say anything about pointing to IP addresses, after some searching the FAQs it gave me a few lines of code to insert into my website html to redirect it...but I don't have a website because I've just made it on cargo.

And if I try saying 'make website from scratch' it claims I need internet explorer to use their webtools!

I feel like I must be missing something because several people from my course recommended this hosting service and surely they wouldn't have been using internet explorer.

    Sod it, I'll email them.

  • It's pretty simple once you work out where they are...even I did it Jess! For mine I thought I found the IP addresses (3?) in the settings on domain website and put them into my blog domain hosting section though? Maybe I confuse...

  • It's cool I went on their online chat support and a woman gave me a step-by-step walkthrough, it was all very cunningly hidden away inside several advanced DNS folders.

  • ah yesss DNS is the word I was trying to think of a minute ago. Tres bien. I'm just writing copy for my website atm, borrrrrrrrrrrrrrringggggggggg.

  • Why is it so damned hard to stop being classed as self employed and fill in a mortgage insurance claim form.

  • re: Aztec pads http://qpr.nu/1l8

I have them and have posted my review of how shit they are on evans' site but for some reason it is never allowed, the last one I didn't swear once.

Anyway am doing the l2b on Sunday and need some reasonably priced pads that will work in an atmosphere that may have some moisture in it. I'd rather not turn into the rear end of a human centipede.

  • Because being self-employed often means that you're unemployed already.

  • They're asking about my accountants details and a letter of confirmation from an accountant. Have they not thought that the business was too small to need an accountant. They don't give the option to tell then that you haven't got one. I won't be surprised if they send the form back asking me to fill in the accountants details.

Also I've spent half an hour looking on the HMRC looking for something to tell them that I am no longer self employed. Gonna go down to the tax office tomorrow and hassle some real people.

  • I think you just stop and the give the date when you prepare your tax return.
    I don't have accountant either.

  • What car do you want to rent?

Thanks for the offer but I don't drive often (only in Oz) so I'd rather stick to what I know and add loads of insurance to it in case I do something stupid. What me, officer? No, not me officer..

  • Offere's there is you get more confident.
The car's neglected, but drives well and there's no roof.

whats yer cargo name (or domain if you fixed it) ...if you don't mind sharing.

  • Cargo looks great, does anyone have an invite so I can try it out?

  • WTF? UK licenses have two parts? What piece of paper? Wankers.
