I might just go for the winppermann - all the KMC's DC10 seem to be out of stock at low prices (ribble) and I'm ordering the rest of my group from ribble so it probably makes sense to save on postage and buy the chain from there as well.

do you butter the bread for a banana sandwich?

Banana sandwich? Feck off >>>>>>>>>>
(I'd use Nutella on a toast for banana, if I had to)

i would probably toast both the pieces of bread and butter one of them. i like the contrast of the salt and the banana. this also works well with peanut butter and banana sandwiches

You should have thought about that a couple of months ago when Chain Reaction were clearing out their Mavic (by Wippermann) chains at under a tenner.
KMC DX10 works for me, not as well as the Wippermann but it's about the cheapest 10v chain you can get
kmc dx10 - Google SearchOr if not the Ultegra seems the next cheapest - £22 from ribble.

One in a milkshake, one in a sandwich and one just because. Perfectly fine.

just inquiring... crunchy peanut butter could be good.
you can't take a toaster in your jersey pocket anyway...

Do it. Wippermann 10S0 > (KMC DX10 + £5.76)

my kmc 10 speed chain snapped going up a steep hill, was about 300 miles young. took the link out and rejoined, been fine since.

Yeah, go for it. I don't do the smooth one either.

Does this front rim need to be replaced at this level of wear?
Rear of the same set for reference:
These are Mavic Open Pro's.

Oh fuck.

Sennheiser CX870
thanks i'll look into them, anyone got any other suggestions?

That's a yes then?

• #13241
These are Mavic Open Pro's.
Sell them on the forum. Maybe someone needs them for a winter beater.
Non of my wheels - ever - even the old whores of the forums Shamals, were worn out that much. -
• #13242
I swapped out my front CXP33 well before it got that bad just in case like.
If you have verniers you can measure the depth of the wear with a bit of subtraction using some thick wire on the inside and outside of the rim. Less than a mm and they is fuckered.

That's a yes, and destroy them to eliminate any possibility that some fool will pull them out of the waste stream for re-use.

Bugger. Caveat Emptor indeed- interesting definition of good used condition.
Biggest loser in all this is Harry, I feel extremely bad that I did not check these over before putting them up for sale.
Still you live and learn.
Ok, two options- one, replace the front rim, and service both hubs to fix the bearings.
Estimated cost ~£70, making this a £200 wheelset.
Or, cut my losses and junk them, losing the £130 I paid for the wheels.
Invest further, or stop?
-
• #13245
I would invest the money but mainly because the idea of literally throwing away £130 notes would make me cry.
-
• #13246
We haven't seen the hubs to see whether they are worth recycling, but both rims have had it.

would also heavily consider the benefits of some kind of comedy mental torture directed at the person who sold them to you.
-
• #13248
Give the hubs a service and sell them?
-
• #13249

No life left in the rear either?
Ah.
That puts a rather different complexion on it- that's £90 just in rims, then £60 in spokes, plus servicing the hubs.
-
• #13250
Servicing hubs is easy if you have a set of cone spanners.
