  • Private. MET.
    There are
People with multiple infractions and they’re
    Shitting it

  • ..same here - I bought a Mac in 2020 that was built in 2019!

  • It’s a faff. But looks like MET are one of the companies that will refuse the appeal, send a couple of ominous looking letters then fold at the last minute.
Whether you want to play the game is up to you. It’s the parking ticket equivalent of pissing around with getting a decent broadband deal.

If it’s the sort of thing that stresses you out then it’s maybe not worth the bother. If you’re happy knowing that both sides are just ticking off steps on a script and that, despite all the bluster, the worst case scenario should be you only end up paying the initial reduced rate (and wasting some of yours and their time)… then crack on

  • No tips, but I did it when I was a teenager and it took a good 6 weeks I reckon, but I was only mountain biking in those days so probably a bit more pressure on the hands

  • I’ve sent the link on.
I don’t use that pool anymore and we cycled over…

  • the worst case scenario should be you only end up paying the initial reduced rate

That's not what the industry code says - you don't get a discount if you fail at arbitration. You do get the discount if you pay up after failing the initial review, which gives you a month to save up🙂
I had two recently, completely different locations and circumstances, one I ended up paying after initial review because it's not worth the hassle of going through the arbitration (and I didn't like the odds - £100 to fail vs. £60 to not bother), the other got revoked in the initial review.
While I agree with you general view that they are all thieving scumbags, it is possible to get a positive outcome occasionally.

  • For a 5 y/o you may want to consider a full face one. They’re not much use outside a pool or the calmest waters, but they are more intuitive and offer a larger field of view.

You can get antifog spray, or buy a tear-free baby shampoo and give the inside of the lens a very light coating with your finger. It’s possibly a good investment anyway, as less-conscientious snorkel and dive centres sometimes use dish soap, which is very much not tear-free (and is also sometimes bad for aquatic life).

  • Cheers snorkellees.

    This has been really helpful.

  • Anyone know the dimensions of hydration pack hose and where to find 120cm of it in London?

  • IIRC it can vary by brand, Osprey being more narrow than camelback.

    I’d try decathlon.

  • Thanks. I did have a look at Decathlon but no one seems to be selling the extended Hydrapak hoses (48") any more and the default ones are only 36" or something which probably isn't enough for my framebag. Another option would be to just take a couple of 1L bottles and no framebag but then I'd lose my up-front storage and have more stuff swinging around in the saddlebag.

  • Plenty of places online doing food-grade silicone tubing by the metre.

  • They tend to be very floppy (ooh err) rather than the non-kink (ooh err) stuff that comes with the bladders. Annoying that I can't find Hydrapak's 48 incher (ooh err)

  • Osprey (and maybe others) do connection kits. Might be easier to join regular kits.

There's someone selling generic 115cm hoses with a braided cover on eBay too. Assume you need it quickly and messaging them for custom length is probably not an option.

  • Yeah, I left my extended one and light mounts elsewhere so now I'm panic buying before we leave for MC on Fri :)

  • I need to get some 16 amp cables /jumpers (male and female options) - prob around 10m worth. Are there any regs on colour? I'd assumed all would be blue and black as that's all I've seen on sets in the past but am searching and there are reds/ red and black / yellow etc. Do any belong in certain environments only etc?

Also, where from for a next day and a reliable brand? Need it Thursday by 1pm. Usually go to CPC farnell for cabley things but Ama*on might be more reliable for getting it to me on time - but I've never heard of 'Double Dragon' (in that context at least..).

  • Can anyone recomend a freight courier from London to Glasgow?

  • How come Lime bikes are so popular? Obviously a fair number of people on them have "borrowed" them but you can generally identify those by the noise.

I don't know if I'm missing something on the pricing but a 10 minute journey seems to cost £3-£4 (£1 to unlock and then 20-30p per minute). You can get the passes but they expire fairly quickly and still aren't that cheap unless you use them a lot.

Are all the people using them heavy users or is there some way to use them on an ad-hoc basis that doens't cost a bomb?

  • I think if you use them a lot the cost goes down. Or so a friend told me

  • Blue = single-phase
    Red = 3-phase
    Yellow = 110V

  • £7 for 60 minute pass. I quite often get this if I'm doing a number of short journeys (~10-15 mins ride, but 45 mins walks or 30 mins tubes) in a day and don't want to take my bike. Works out about the same as a day's TFL pass and loads more fun. Agree lime is not great for one-off journeys, but the passes def make sense if taking more than one journey.

  • I think Lime have sorted out the stolen ones, you don't hear the loud clicking anymore,
As far as I can tell Lime bikes are popular because they give people a bit of alone time to make some phone calls.

  • Thanks - presume they're cross compatible and if I just plug in a blue cable with ceeform tip that'll do the job? Phasing is just the rate of the number of live wires in the cabling itself? Have a last min shoot in a factory with no chance for a recce and location person being slow to respond.

Current plan, if there isn't a 13amp socket to take from is 16amp to 13amp female > then a four gang 13amp and fixtures into that, e.g.:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0746L9MVC
    then
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/PRO-ELEC-PELB0138-Socket-Extension/dp/B0B23VZ7BL
    then
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/pro-elec-Trailing-Socket-Mains-Extension-Black/dp/B007ZLNQ62

  • presume they're cross compatible

No, they're keyed. You'll need the correct cable for the job spec.

  • Then let's hope it's just single phase. I've got a ton of batteries if needs be but such a ballache lighting from v-lock.
