  • Still trying to work out grey

  • My 2 pairs didn't come with any insert to cover the cut out, but I don't see why you couldn't wear them on flats.

  • Binary but old.

  • This is a whole thing* https://www.theguardian.com/theobserver/2011/sep/25/readers-editor-actor-or-actress

    * in as far as rich Hollywood people care anyway

  • I'll go for the first option if work or someone else is paying.

The lounge is shit, Ryanair and budget hub standard.

That said, I've slept at Stanstead in the summer and yeah it was ok. Find and quiet corner, plug the phone to charge, a book, couple of cans and thenvslept like a baby.

Security and cleaning crew were pretty chilled, I was in an area smack middle of the airport in between the ladies and gents.

  • Why is the Chinese New Year being called a Lunar New Year when it's based on a lunisolar calendar?

Especially when actual lunar calendars are available and used.

  • As a shorthand to distinguish it from the strictly solar year change used in European time keeping.

  • But why not stick with Chinese New Year? After all it's not Hijri New Year, which is actually lunar.

  • Is the same event celebrated outside of China and its diasporas?

  • I believe there are very similar but subtly different lunisolar calendars in Japan/Korea and a couple of other places.

  • why not stick with Chinese New Year?

Because China uses both traditional and Gregorian calendars depending on the purpose. If you order on credit from Alibaba, the factory won't send an invoice demanding payment by some date in 4721 🙂

  • That makes sense in China but here, in London obvs, it has been called Chinese New Year for all the time I've been paying attention but now seems to be more commonly called Lunar New Year. Why the change? Perhaps I'm imagining it.

  • Maybe more inclusive?
    Or possibly subtle racism?

  • bought 500g morrisons fusilli egg pasta weighed it at 444g ? is this a trades description act issue ? can i sue them ?

weighed a 2nd also underweight by a decent margin

  • I don't know goddammit, but now I'm going to have to go and weight my bags of pasta from various shops 😂

  • I had that with some cheese from Morrisons, said 160g pack, I used 100g in a recipe and there was only about 40 left. Bastards!

  • Have you calibrated your scales recently?

  • scales are fine
it's just that the earths gravity that has changed, unless the water round here is exceptionally light

500ml of water here weighs 460g

    problem solved

    *withdraws legal documents against morrisons

  • Was it a 10% off offer?

  • It's traditionally called the Spring Festival and hence the difference dates depending on when spring falls.

As to why it is called Chinese New Year, most Chinese expats (sue me!) still observe this tradition and keeps it alive. Which makes sense to call it Chinese New Year.

  • Anybody know @Biggles567 (aka Max) irl?
If so, please can you ask him to check his messages on here.
    Thanks very much.

  • Reasonably priced bluetooth earbuds? Picked up a set of Belkin ones from Argos for £25 but they're basically useless for calls according to everyone I've tried to call!

  • Anker tend to be decent at the cheaper end.

  • Yep, got the Anker Soundcore Life A1 earbuds and they seem pretty decent. Think they were around £40 or so

  • I got some soundcore A3i and have been very happy with them.
