I have not used a Tacx but I can't imagine how a turbo could be better than the Kickr Core

Thanks fredtc........that's good enough for me :)

Have used both. They’re functionally identical. You won’t go wrong with either

Is iCloud+ worth it, or is it just better to back up locally?
In an ideal world, both. Not necessarily iCloud, but some remote location
-
• #114382
Figured, even a physically remote hard drive would accomplish this.

Yes, in the olden days I just used to use two external drives and switch them weekly when I visited the parents. Never more than 1 days data lost to a main computer drive failure, never more than a week's worth lost to total domestic devastation.

Big fan of Backblaze as an always on, backup everything system. Used it for about 10 years for laptop and 3TB of external drives (capacity is unlimited), only ever once had it throw up an error and that was easily solved without losing any data.

TBF, I'm an Apple fanboi, but only in the sense that I use both Windows and iOS because I have to and, ordinarily, I prefer iOS - but in this instance it disappoints.

I’m in the same boat.
I have a Cervelo Soloist first gen frame with an aero seatpost that I think is the same as the one used on your slc-sl.
My post is quite short though and I suspect I’ll need a longer one to make it fit.I think these might be a match but I’ve not put any real effort into researching it yet.
Is there a Cervelo nerds forum somewhere that could be a good resource? If I manage to find a longer post, you could potentially have my current post if it would suit.
I’ll check the measurements -

I was seriously considering something like this when I discovered my Cervelo seatpost wasn't quite long enough. Fortunately I found an aftermarket version for cheap 😆

Actually lol’d there. Seen those on Aliexpress recently. Maybe if I get really desperate…

The carbon part of this seat post is 293mm. There’s no visible min. insertion line.
I know 100mm tends to be the minimum but the proprietary d-shape seat post on my tarmac has a 75mm insertion line on a 380mm post.
Anyone reckon 75mm on this cervelo post would be okay?
There’s 75mm in the frame right now and that gets me my ideal saddle height.
If it’s ok then it means I don’t actually need to find a longer post.Edit - points to note: this is the frame I bought for cheap knowing that these frames had dodgy seat tube cracking issues. Turns out this frame does have a tiny crack at the seat clamp. I’m going to drill it like tester suggested a while ago.
I’m a reasonable big chap at 98kg and a baw hair under 6ft3.Common sense tells me a new seat post is clearly what I need here. But would 75mm insertion reduce the chances of me seeing my next birthday?
Photo of tiny crack highlighted too

I’m looking for a 110bcd chainring to use with a crankset I have. I’d like to use them for track. I think I've seen some cheaper 110bcd track chainrings, but am I right in thinking I can’t use any of the trendy anodised narrow wide chainrings that are about? Not compatible with with 3/32 cog and chain?

NW rings for ordinary chain should be fine with 8-speed dérailleur chain and 3/32" sprocket. Might not be able to run Wippermann 7R8 due to the tall plates. Stuff made for SRAM 12-speed won't work as the flat top chain uses oversized rollers.

Anyone reckon 75mm on this cervelo post would be okay?
Current S3 only needs 65mm in the frame 🤷75mm in and 218mm out is within the 3:1 rule of thumb you use in the absence of better info, although the out dimension is more like 260 when you include the head. 75mm probably gets you below the bottom of the top tube, which is another gotcha with frames where the junction is not at the top of the seat tube

Thanks, this makes me feel slightly better about riding it with 75mm in until I find a longer aftermarket post.
I don’t want to spend much money on this bike, but I don’t want jaggy broken carbon spearing me in the arse either. -

I'm after a tall 1" quill stem 120mm long, 25.4mm clamp.
Current stem has ~110mm over the min insertion line and I'd like at least another couple of inches on that.
Any ideas?
Other option is a 1" quill to ahead extender/adapter. But the only one I've seen is this, but is it a bit short if its 140mm total length: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/deda-quill-stem-adapter-for-1-stems
Cheers.

Tallux or Technomic is almost always the answer to that question.

Cheers.
Hadn't heard of the Tallux. Annoyingly I sold a Technomic ages ago knowing I should have kept it for the parts bin.
Both are more than what I paid for the bike, so for now going for this as a placeholder:

Not really the right length. But need something so 🤷

I had Apple's Genius Bar over the phone bloke sort out some gremlins to do with backing stuff up. A process which included activating my cloud account which, co-incidentally or otherwise, resulted in the loss of a significant number of contacts from my contacts list.
ETA - Luckily, I have another (much older) iMac which is in no way connected to the new one and has historic versions of contacts as well as other stuff.
